아동을 대상으로 한 나눔교육 프로그램의 효과에 관한 연구 - 아동의 친사회적 행동 변화 분석

국문 초록

  본 연구는 나눔교육의 의미를 실증적으로 검증해 보기 위한 것이다. 즉 나눔교육의 인과적 효과를 파악하기 위한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 특히 아동의 친사회적 행동의 변화에 초점을 두고 나눔교육의 효과를 분석한다. 이러한 연구목적의 달성을 위해서 나눔교육과 친사회적 행동에 대한 이론적 논의 및 지금까지의 나눔교육 프로그램의 교육 방법과 내용에 대한 실천적 지식을 토대로 나눔교육 프로그램을 구성한 후, 이 프로그램을 초등학생을 대상으로 해서 적용하여 아동의 친사회적 행동의 변화가 어떠한가를 살펴보았다.
  본 연구를 위한 자료의 구성을 위해서 아름다운재단 ‘2006 나눔교육 교사연수’에 참여한 교사가 소속된 수도권 3개 초등학교의 4학년 학급 3개를 실험집단으로 선정하고 동시에 같은 학교의 4학년 학급을 통제집단으로 선정하여 나눔교육 효과를 비교하기 위한 집단을 구성하였다. 학생들에 대한 나눔교육은 6회기에 걸쳐 담임교사에 의해 시행되었으며, 프로그램의 효과는 친사회적 행동 척도를 사용하여 실험집단과 통제집단의 비교분석을 통해 검증하였다. 아울러 사전 사후조사의 변화가 실험 및 통제집단에 따라 차이가 있는지를 분석하면서 나눔교육의 효과를 검증하였다. 이러한 검증을 통합적으로 수행하기 위한 통계적 분석으로는 반복측정 분산분석(Repeated Measure ANOVA)을 사용하였다.
  분석 결과, 나눔교육 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단의 친사회적 행동은 통제집단과 비교했을 때, 프로그램 실시 전후를 비교했을 때, 그리고 집단과 프로그램 실시 사전사후의 상호작용을 보았을 때 모두에서 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 보다 구체적으로는 친사회적 행동의 하위영역 모두에서 긍정적인 변화가 있었는데, 특히 ‘도와주기’, ‘협동하기’, ‘보호하기’, ‘공감하기’ 영역에서 보다 큰 변화를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 나눔교육 프로그램이 아동의 친사회적 행동을 증대시키는데 매우 긍정적 효과를 가질 수 있음을 보여주면서, 동시에 나눔교육 프로그램의 유용성과 필요성도 확인시켜 주는 연구 결과라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

  This study attempts to examine the relationship between philanthropic education program and children’s prosocial behavior. Recently, there are a lot of discussions on the effects of philanthropic education. However, there are little empirical research on the effect of philanthropic education for children. In this situation, this study analyzes the relationship by using the nonequivalent control group design and repeated measure ANOVA. Under the nonequivalent control group design, this study collects data for analysis by assigning students of three classes belonging to the 4th grade of three elementary schools as experimental group and students of three equivalent classes belonging to the 4th grade of the same elementary schools as control group, by conducting treatment (philanthropic education in extracurricular session) for the experimental group and non-treatment (normal education in extracurricular session) for the control group, and by observing the pretest results and the posttest results on students’ prosocial behavior scores.
  Using repeated measure ANOVA, this study has the following results: (1) in the between group comparison, the prosocial behavior scores of children participating in the philanthropic education program are significantly different in the positive direction from children not participating in the program; (2) in the within group comparison, the posttest scores are significantly different in the positive direction from the pretest scores; (3) the degree of change in prosocial behavior scores of experimental group is significantly different from it in those scores of control group; and (4) even in all six components (helping, sympathizing, caring, sharing, being kind, and cooperating) of prosocial behavior, such changes are consistently statistically significant.
  Finally, this study discusses the meaning of the research results in terms of both policy and practice implications and research implications.
