중학생의 직업포부 결정요인 - 의사직과 교사직을 중심으로

국문 초록

  본 연구는 중학생들의 직업포부 결정요인 및 직업포부 결정요인에서의 성별 차이를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 연구자는 2004년 한국청소년패널조사(Korea Youth Panel Survey)의 중학교 3학년생 3,449명의 자료를 사용하였다. KYPS에서는 직업포부가 개방형 문항으로 조사되었으나, 본 연구에서는 의사를 희망하는지의 여부와 교사를 희망하는지의 여부로 변환하여 종속변수로 사용하였다. 중학생의 직업포부 결정요인 및 직업포부 결정요인에서의 성별 차이를 분석하기 위해, 본 연구에서는 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였으며 직업포부에 대한 개인특성 변인, 가정배경 변인, 사회심리적 변인의 영향력을 살펴보았다. 직업포부 결정요인에 대한 로지스틱 분석 결과, 중학생의 직업포부는 가정배경 변인보다는 학생 개인특성 변인 및 사회심리적 변인의 영향을 더욱 강하게 받고 있었다. 또한 직업포부 결정요인에서의 성별 차이를 확인할 수 있었는데, 특히 의사직에 대한 직업포부 결정요인에서의 성별 차이는 거의 나타나지 않은 반면, 교직에 대한 직업포부 결정요인에서의 성별 차이는 비교적 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 중학생들의 직업포부가 어떠한 과정을 통해 형성되는지에 대해 고찰하지 않은 바, 후속 연구를 통해 직업포부가 형성되는 보다 세밀한 과정이 분석될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

  This study explored the determinants of occupational aspiration of middle school students and gender difference in occupational determinants. In this study, 2004 KYPS(Korea Youth Panel Survey) data of 3,449 middle school seniors was used. Although occupational aspiration in KYPS was asked in a form of open-ended question, dependent variables in this study were whether a doctor be aspired or not, a teacher be aspired. I examined the effect of individual characteristic variables, family background variables, social psychological variables on occupational aspiration by logistic regression analysis. As a result of analyzing the determinants of occupational aspiration, the findings indicated that individual related variables and social psychological variables significantly affected occupational aspiration than family background variables. In addition, I found substantial gender difference in occupational aspiration. In specific, gender difference was evidently found on students who aspired to be a teacher while was not found on those who aspired to be a doctor. But because the process of occupational aspiration formation was not analysed in this study, it is necessary to be examined by further investigation.
