국문 초록

본 연구는 Felder와 Soloman의 학습양식검사(Index of Learning Styles: ILS)를 이용하여 대학생들이 선호하는 학습양식의 전체적인 분포를 확인하고, 성별과 계열별에 따라 학습양식의 차이가 있는지를 분석하며, 또한 대학생들의 학습양식에 따라 학업성취와 진로결정수준에 차이가 있는 지를 분석하는 데 연구의 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 J대학교에 재학 중인 233명의 대학생을 대상으로 학습양식검사와 진로결정수준검사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 감각적 학습양식, 시각적 학습양식, 활동적 학습양식, 통합적 학습양식을 선호하는 학생들이 보다 많은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 감각적 학습양식을 선호하는 학생들이 직관적 학습양식을 선호하는 학생들보다 학업성취가 더 높았으며, 통합적 학습양식을 선호하는 학생들이 순차적 학습양식을 선호하는 학생들보다 진로결정수준이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 대학생들의 다양한 학습양식을 고려하는 효과적인 수업설계를 하는 데 중요한 시사점을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 대학생들을 위한 진로지도에서 각 학습양식 유형에 따른 효과적인 진로상담 프로그램을 개발하는 데 기초자료를 제공할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among academic achievement, career decision, and learning styles of University students. The research hypotheses were formulated as follows : 1. There will be a significant difference in the learning styles by sex. 2. There will be a significant difference in the learning styles by divison. 3. There will be a significant difference in the academic achievement by learning styles. 4. There will be a significant difference in the career decision by learning styles. The subjects of the study consisted of 233 students from J university in Jeju city. The Index of Learning Styles(ILS), developed by Richard Felder and Barbara Soloman, was used to measure college students' learning styles. The findings of the study were as follows : First, 83 percent were classified as sensing learners(17 percent intuitive learners), 69 percent were visual learners(31 percent verbal learners), 57 percent were active learners(43 percent reflective learners), 48 percent were sequential learners(52 percent global learners). Second, there was a significant difference in the learning styles by sex. Females tend to be more verbal than males. Third, there was a significant difference in the learning styles by academic field. Humanities & Social Sciences students tend to be more sensing than Natural Sciences students. Natural Sciences students tend to be more visual than Humanities & Social Sciences students. Fourth, there was a significant difference in the academic achievement between sensing and intuitive learners. Fifth, there was a significant difference in the career decision between sequential and global learners.
