정신지체 성인의 평생교육 요구 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 정신지체 성인의 평생교육을 위한 상담, 교육, 직업영역에 관한 지원요구를 분석하기 위해 수도권에 소재한 정신지체 특수학교 5개교를 선정하여, 최근 10년 동안 고등부를 졸업한 176명을 대상으로 상담, 교육, 직업의 3개영역에 관하여 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 그 분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상담영역에 있어서 상담기관이 개설되기를 원하는 장소는 장애인복지관 약50%, 장애인고용촉진공단 약22%였고, 국가나 지방자치단체에서 지원 받고 싶은 내용으로는 취업알선·상담, 일상생활교육·여가활동, 직업교육 등이었다. 둘째, 교육영역에 있어서 현재 필요로 하는 교육내용은 일상생활기술이 약40%, 직업기술 약29%, 여가 약20%였고, 평생교육을 받고 싶은 장소는 장애인을 위한 평생교육기관 약52%, 일반인을 위한 평생교육기관 약22%, 장애인복지관 약19%였다. 일반대학 내에 정신지체 성인을 위한 교육과정에 참여하여 교육을 받고 싶은 성인은 약54%이었다. 셋째, 직장영역에 있어서 원하는 직종은 제조업에 관련된 일이 약60%였고, 원하는 직장 형태는 보호작업장과 지원고용이 약87%이었다. 직장생활을 위해 지원 받고 싶은 내용은 취직알선, 임금인상, 기술지도 순이었다. 따라서 장애인복지관에서 직업, 일상생활, 여가에 관한 상담을 전문적으로 수행하기 위하여 ‘장애인평생교육사’가 양성되어야 하며, 정신지체 성인도 장애인 평생교육기관 뿐만 아니라, 지역의 일반평생교육기관에서도 평생교육을 받을 수 있어야 한다. 또한 제조업에서의 직종개발과 경쟁고용을 위한 직무지도원(job coach)제도의 도입과 보호고용을 위한 대규모 공장이 설립되어야 한다.

영문 초록

To analyze the needs for supporting the spheres of consultation, education, and career of adults with mental retardation for the lifelong education. five special schools for students with mental retardation in the National Capital region were chosen, and the subjects were 176 graduates of the schools the last ten years. A Survey was conducted in regard to three spheres of consultation, education, and career. The needs for supporting the lifelong education of adults with mental retardation are as following. First, In regard to spheres of consultation, about 50% of them want counseling centers to be installed in the welfare institution for the disabled, about 22% want them in the employment promotion agency for the disabled. What they wanted to be supported from the national or regional governments were consultation for job recommendation, daily life education for leisure activities, and vocational training. Second, In regard to spheres of education, about 40% of what they need to be educated presently was daily life skill, about 29% was vocational training, about 29% was leisure activities. As for the place where they wanted lifelong education, about 52% answered in the lifelong education center for the disabled, about 22% in the general lifelong education center, 19% in the welfare institution for the disabled. about 54% of them wanted to be educated in colleges or Universities by means of the curriculums for adults with mental retardation. Third, in regard to three spheres of career, about 60% of types of the desired occupation were related with manufacture. And about 87% of types of the desired workplace were sheltered workshop and supportive employment. What they want to be supported in their employment were in order of job guidance, wage raising, and technical guidance in sequence. Accordingly, in order for welfare institutions for individuals with disabilities to consult about employment, daily life, and leisure technically, lifelong educators for individuals with disabilities should be trained, and adults with mental retardation should be able to be educated in lifelong educational institutions for individuals without disabilities as well as those for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, job coach system should be introduced for the development of occupational categories and competitive employment, and large-scale workshops for sheltered employment should be established.
