부모교육에 대한 시각장애아부모의 요구 조사

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 부모교육 내용 및 실시 방법에 대한 시각장애아부모들의 요구를 조사함으로써 시각장애아부모 교육프로그램 개발의 기초자료를 마련하는 것이었다. 연구대상은 전국 시각장애학교 12개교의 유치부 및 초등부 아동의 부모 257명이었으며, 연구자가 개발한 설문지를 활용해 부모들의 요구를 조사했다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 대다수의 부모(92.3%)가 부모교육이 필요하다고 응답했고, 설문지에 제시된 20개의 주제에 대해 5단계 평정척도로 조사한 요구도의 평균 범위는 3.82~4.31이었다. 부모들이 가장 알고 싶은 주제는 진로지도와 국내외 복지제도였으며 보행, 보조공학, 일상생활기술, 교과지도 등에 대한 요구도보다 각각 높은 것으로 나타났다. 부모교육 내용에 있어서 단순 시각장애아부모집단은 시각중복장애아부모집단에 비해 진로지도, 대인관계기술, 보조공학, 교과지도, 점자지도 등에 있어서 더 높은 요구를 나타냈다. 시각장애아부모들은 시각장애학교에서 평일 오전에 1시간 30분간 16~20명 이상의 집단을 대상으로 강의와 녹화자료를 주로 활용하여 부모교육을 실시할 것을 요구했다. 부모교육 참여의 주된 저해 요인으로서 시간 부족, 먼 거리 등을 지적했으며, 대다수(84.4%)의 부모가 웹을 통해 실시하는 부모교육에 참여하겠다고 응답했다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to gather basic information for developing a parent education program by surveying the needs about the content and methods of the parent education among parents of children with visual impairments. A total of 257 parents whose child was enrolled in kindergarten or grades 1 through 6 at 12 schools for the blind across the nation responded to a questionnaire developed by the first author for the purpose of this study. The majority of the participants (92.3%) agreed that a parent education program should be offered for parents of children with visual impairments. When asked to indicate, using a five-point Likert scale, the extent to which they wanted to know about each of 20 topics, the participants expressed high levels of needs about all the topics, ranging in means from 3.82 to 4.31. Parents were most interested in career education and welfare policies for individuals with visual impairments. It was found that the level of needs about career education and welfare policies was significantly higher than that about orientation & mobility skills, assistive technology, daily living skill, and academic support, respectively. Parents of children with visual impairments only expressed significantly higher levels of needs about career education, interpersonal relationships, assistive technology, academic support, and braille instruction than did those of children with visual and multiple disabilities. The participants indicated that the parent education program should be implemented in a group of more than 16 individuals, using lecture and videotapes, at schools for the blind for about 90 minutes in the morning on weekdays. The majority of parents (84.4%) agreed to participate in a web-based parent education program.
