“치료교육(활동)”의 학적 정체성 재정립을 위한 논리·법리적 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 “치료교육(활동)”이란 한국특수교육의 법정용어가 지닌 개념적 적절성을 비판적 시각에서 분석·검토함으로써, 그 이론과 실제의 재구성을 위한 대안을 모색하기 위한 문헌연구다. 이를 위해, 치료와 교육을 일상용어와 학술용어로 각각 구분하여 그 어원과 어의를 밝히고 법정용어 “치료교육”과의 개념적 상호관계성을 분석·검토하였다. 이와 함께, 학술용어 “치료교육”이 1994년 개정 「특수교육진흥법」의 법정용어로 공식 채택된 근거를 ‘heilpadagogik,’ ‘padagogishe therapie,’ ‘educational therapy’ 등에서 찾아보았다. 또한, 1998년 『특수학교 교육과정』 고시를 통해 “치료교육활동”이 특수교육 교육과정의 법정용어로 결정된 배경을 일본의 “養護·訓練”(현재의 “自立生活”)과 미국의 “related service”에 비추어 재검토하였다. 뿐만 아니라, “치료교육”과 “치료교육활동”을 “養護·訓練,” “自立生活,” “related service”의 주요 내용을 상호 비교하고 최근 개정법률 규정의 적절성까지 검토·논의하였다. 이러한 분석의 결과에 바탕을 두고, “치료교육(활동)”의 학적 정체성 (재)정립을 위한 대안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The present study was undertaken to explore the directions toward theoretical and practical improvement of "therapeutic education" and "therapeutic education activities" through critical analysis and examination of its conceptual relevances. The study analysed the origin and meaning of words of education, therapy, and therapeutic education as common, academic, and legal term and examined their relationships in detail and throughly. Then, the rationales for adopting "therapeutic education" and "therapeutic education activities" as a legal term in the 1994 revision of the Special Education Promotion Law and the 1998 revision of the Special School Curriculum were respectively compared with heilpadagogik and padagogishe therapie (educational therapy) of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nurse and Training and more recently Independent Living of the Japan, and the Related Services of the United States of America. In addition, the content validity of the "therapeutic education" and the "therapeutic education activities" was examined and the recent bills of Special Education Promotion Law were discussed. The alternatives for reconstruction of its identity were suggested according to the findings of these analysis and interpretation.
