부모결연프로그램이 발달장애아동 어머니의 양육스트레스와 가족능력강화에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 같은 장애특성을 지닌 장애아동의 어머니들이 1:1로 결연을 맺어 장애자녀 양육의 경험이 많은 어머니가 장애자녀 양육에 어려움을 겪는 어린 장애아동의 어머니에게 지원을 제공하는 부모결연프로그램(Parent-to-Parent Programs)에 참여하는 것이 발달장애아동 어머니의 양육스트레스 감소와 가족능력강화 향상에 효과적인가를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구 참여자들은 서울시내에 위치한 정신지체 특수학교에 재학 중인 초등부 신입생 어머니 9명과 같은 학교 고등부 재학생의 어머니 9명이었으며 연구 참여자들은 약 5개월에 걸쳐 진행된 부모결연프로그램에 참여하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면 부모결연프로그램에 참여한 신입생 어머니의 양육스트레스 중 장애자녀의 ‘양육관련 고민’ 영역의 스트레스가 유의하게 감소하였으며, 부모결연프로그램에 참여하여 지원을 받은 어머니들과 지원을 제공한 어머니들 모두의 가족능력강화 수준이 유의하게 향상되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Parent-to-Parent programs on parental stress and family empowerment. Parent-to-Parent programs offer parents of children who have special needs the opportunity to receive emotional and informational support from another parent who is experiencing a similar set of circumstances. The subject for this study were the 18 mothers of developmental disordered children, attending a school for the mental retarded children, in Seoul. The results of this study were as follows. First, the parental distress level in the group of the young children's mothers significantly reduced. Second, the family empowerment level in the group of the young children's mothers and trained supporting mothers significantly improved.
