영문 초록

In this study, I wanted to examine that there are three tonemes - /H/, /L:/, /L/, and four surface tones -[H:], [H], [L:], [L] in the dialect of Gyeongsang Province. In addition, the tonal opposition and neutralization govern the word formation and inflection of this dialect. According to this, there are some tonal rules which are applied in derivation of surface forms from underlying forms. The following rules are applied in the dialect of North Gyeongsang province. a. H2Ln → [L1HLn]/ # # b. L2 → [HHL0]/# # c. L:2 → [H:HL0]/# # As is generally known, the dialect of Gyeongsang province has pitch tones in words and sentences. So it is very important to understand that some special phenomena are found in the application of tonal rules in this dialect.
