발달장애아의 문제행동과 어머니의 양육스트레스 간의 관계 : 낙관성과 가족건강성의 조절 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 발달장애 자녀를 양육하는 어머니의 심리적 스트레스의 완화요인을 밝히기 위해 발달장애아의 3가지 문제행동(자해행동, 상동행동, 공격적/파괴적 행동)이 어머니의 양육스트레스에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 어머니의 낙관성과 가족건강성의 조절효과를 확인하였다. 발달장애아(지적장애, 자폐스펙트럼장애)의 어머니 203명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 자녀의 문제행동이 어머니의 양육스트레스에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 낙관성과 가족건강성의 조절효과 검증 결과, 문제행동 중 자해행동이 조절효과가 유의하였다. 반면, 상동행동과 공격적/파괴적 행동은 양육스트레스에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 낙관성과 가족건강성의 조절 효과가 유의하지 않았다. 이는 문제행동 유형에 따라 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 변인이 상이할 수 있음을 시사하며, 문제행동 중 양육스트레스에 영향을 미치는 태도 요인의 변화만으로도 유의한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 변인과 그렇지 않은 변인이 있음을 실증한 의의가 있다. 단, 본 연구 결과는 후속 연구에서 반복검증을 통해 확인할 필요가 있고, 문제행동의 유형과 심각성에 따라 양육자의 스트레스 양상을 파악하고 도움을 제공하기 위한 개입 방안에 관하여 다양한 연구가 필요함을 제기하였다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the psychological stress and mitigating factors for mothers raising children with developmental disabilities. The moderating effects of optimism and family health were examined in the relationship between problem behaviors (Self-injurious behavior, Stereotyped Behavior, Aggressive/Disruptive Behavior) in children with developmental disabilities and maternal parenting stress. A survey was administered to 203 mothers of children with developmental disabilities. The results showed a significant moderating effect of optimism and family strength in the relationship between self-injurious behavior and maternal parenting stress. However, no moderating effect of optimism was found in the relationship between stereotyped behavior or aggressive/disruptive behavior and maternal parenting stress. This result suggests that variables influencing parenting stress may differ depending on the type of problem behavior, highlighting the importance of attitude factors in managing stress associated with different problem behaviors. Nevertheless, these results require further validation through repeated studies, and additional research is needed to identify caregiver stress patterns and to tailor interventions based on the type and severity of problematic behaviors.
