자살 청소년 지인들의 경험을 통해 살펴본 청소년 자살 위험요인에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 심리적 부검을 통해 청소년 자살의 위험요인을 조사하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 자살한 청소년의 지인 16명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하고, 그 자료를 질적 내용분석을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 6개의 주요 범주와 16개의 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 주요 범주는 '가족 갈등', '경제적 어려움', '성격적 특성', '자살 시도 및 자해 경험', '정신건강 문제', '학교생활 및 대인관계 문제'로 나타났다. 가족 갈등 범주에서는 부모와의 갈등, 가족 내 소외감, 경제적 어려움으로 인한 심리적 압박 등이 청소년 자살의 중요한 요인으로 확인되었다. 성격적 특성에서는 소심한 성격과 낮은 자존감 등이 주요 요인으로 나타났으며, 자살 시도 및 자해 경험은 자살 위험을 크게 증가시키는 요소로 파악되었다. 정신건강 문제에서는 우울증과 정신적 외상 등이, 학교생활 및 대인관계 문제에서는 교사와의 갈등, 또래와의 관계, 학교폭력, 학업 스트레스 등이 청소년들의 자살 생각과 연관된 것으로 나타났다. 이를 바탕으로 선행연구와 비교 분석하는 가운데 논의하였고, 한계점과 향후 연구방향에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate the risk factors for adolescent suicide using a psychological autopsy approach. Interviews were conducted with 16 individuals who were acquainted with adolescents who had died by suicide, and the data were analyzed through qualitative content analysis. As a result, six major categories and 16 sub-themes emerged from the analysis. The major categories included: ‘family conflict’, ‘economic difficulties’, ‘personality traits’, ‘suicide attempts and self-harm experiences’, ‘mental health issues’, and ‘school life and interpersonal relationship problems’. Within the family conflict category, significant risk factors identified were conflict with parents, feelings of alienation within the family, and psychological pressure due to economic difficulties. Personality traits such as timidity and low self-esteem were also key factors, while prior suicide attempts and self-harm experiences were found to significantly increase the risk of suicide. In the mental health issues category, depression and psychological trauma were identified as risk factors. Additionally, in the category of school life and interpersonal relationship problems, conflicts with teachers, peer relationship issues, school violence, and academic stress were found to be associated with suicidal ideation among adolescents. Based on these findings, a comparative analysis with previous studies was conducted, and the limitations and directions for future research were discussed.
