국문 초록

본 연구는 섹스리스 부부를 치료하는 이마고 관계치료사 자신의 성 경험과 그 의미를 탐구함으로써 치료 과정에서 상담자와 내담자 간의 동형성(Isomorphism)이 드러나는 맥락을 밝히고, 상담자의 성경험이 치료에 어떻게 통합되는지를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 5년 이상 10년 이하의 부부 상담 경력을 가진 이마고 관계치료사 4명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 연구 결과, 참여자의 내러티브는 ‘친밀함의 메아리’, ‘참 자기(Self)를 향한 여정’, ‘봄을 가장 먼저 맞이하는 인동초’, 그리고 ‘거울에 비치는 상담자의 삶’의 네 가지 주제로 나타났다. 이 주제들은 상담자와 내담자 간의 치유적 동형성이 어떻게 형성되고, 상담자의 자신의 성 경험과 자기성찰이 치료 과정에 어떻게 반영되는지를 보여준다. 본 연구의 의의는 이마고 관계치료가 주로 경제문제, 역할, 성, 성격 문제에 국한되었던 것에서 벗어나 보다 근본적인 문제에 집중된다는 점을 일깨운 것이다. 또한, 기존연구에서는 내담자의 축에 치중되어왔던 관심을 상담사의 축으로 이동하여 탐색하였다는 점이다. 결과적으로, 본 연구는 상담사 자신의 자기 성찰과 이해가 관계치료사의 훈련과 발전에 매우 중요하다는 것을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study explored the sexual experiences and meanings for Imago relationship therapists treating sexless couples, aiming to reveal the context in which isomorphism between the counselor and the client occurs during the treatment process, and how the counselor's sexual experiences are integrated into therapy. Interviews were conducted with four therapists who had 5 to 10 years of experience in couples counseling. The narratives of the participants were categorized into four themes: ‘Echo of Intimacy’, ‘Journey Towards the True Self’, ‘Honeysuckle Welcoming Spring’, and ‘The Counselor’s Life Reflected in the Mirror’. These themes illustrate how isomorphism between the counselor and the client is formed, and how the counselor's own sexual experiences and self-reflection are reflected in the therapeutic process. The significance of this study lies in highlighting that Imago relationship Therapy addresses more fundamental issues beyond economic problems, roles, sexual issues, and personality problems. Additionally, it shifts the focus from client-centered research to exploring counselor’s perspective. Consequently, this study suggests that the self-reflection and understanding of the counselor are crucial for the training and development of relationship therapists.
