사별을 경험한 가족의 애도 과정과 대처방식 및 상담 접근에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 사별을 경험한 가족의 애도 과정과 대처방식, 그리고 상담 접근 방법을 살펴봄으로써, 사별을 경험한 가족체계 내 각 가족원들에게 맞는 애도 상담 프로그램 구성을 위해 진행된 기초 연구이다. 이를 위하여 2000년~2023년까지 출판된 국내 학술논문 중 ‘사별・애도’, ‘사별・대처’, ‘사별・상담’, ‘상실・애도’, ‘상실・대처’, ‘상실・상담’, ‘애도’, ‘애도・상담’, ‘애도・대처’ 등 키워드로 검색된 총 999개의 관련 학술 논문들 중, 자살, 자녀 상실, 종교적 접근을 제외하고 애도 과정과 대처방식이 구체적으로 언급되어 있으면서 상담 프로그램을 제시한 논문들을 대상으로 탐색이 진행되었다. 신경인지모델 관점에서 애도가 탐색되었고, 선행연구들에서 도출된 애도 과정과 대처방식이 비교되었다. 사별 가족원이 경험하는 애도 과정에 보편성이 있으나 가족원이 지닌 자기탄력성과 삶에 대해 가지는 의미에 따라 애도 과정 이후 외상 후 성장이 달라짐이 확인되었다. 비정상적으로 장기화되는 애도와 관련하여 사별 대상에 대한 유가족의 몰두, 집착, 보상 기제가 탐색되었으며, 생애 주기가 각기 다른 사별 가족원에대한 애도 상담 모델이 탐색되었다. 이와 함께 연구의 한계와 제한점이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This study examines the grieving process, coping mechanisms, and counseling approaches for families who have experienced bereavement. It aims to develop grief counseling programs tailored to each family member within the bereaved family system. To achieve this, 999 relevant academic papers published in South Korea between 2000 and 2023 were reviewed using keywords such as ‘bereavement & grief,’ ‘bereavement & coping,’ and ‘bereavement & counseling,’ ‘loss & grief,’ ‘loss & coping,’ ‘loss & counseling,’ ‘grief,’ ‘grief & counseling,’ and ‘grief & coping.’ Papers focusing on the grief process, coping mechanisms, and counseling programs were selected, excluding those on suicide, child loss, and religious approaches.. Grief was explored from a neurocognitive model perspective, and the grief process and coping mechanisms identified in previous studies were compared. It was found that while the grieving process is universal, post-traumatic growth varies based on individual resilience and the meaning attributed to life. The study also investigated the preoccupation, obsession, and compensation mechanisms related to prolonged abnormal grief and examined grief counseling models for family members at different life stages. Limitations and constraints of the study were discussed.
