국문 초록

본고에서는 우리 미술교육에서의 지식과 이해교육의 맥락과 내용을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 지식은 다양한 대상과 현상, 사건 등에 대한 경험을 바탕으로 한 인간의 명확한 의식이며, 이해는 이 같은 지식을 유연하게 생각하고 수행하는 능력으로 정의된다. 지식교육은 지식의 의미를 구체적으로 습득하게 하는 것이며, 이해교육은 패턴화된 지식의 내용과 의미에서의 연관성에서 일반화와 원리를 파악하는 데 초점을 맞춘다. 우리 미술교육에서의 지식과 이해교육은 서구 미술교육의 변화와 여러 학문의 발달, 교육과정 체계의 변화와 제안들 속에서 그 관점과 내용을 형성하고 변화해 왔다. 그리고 이렇게 제시된 여러 내용들은 오랜 기간 동안의 우리 미술교육학자들의 학문적 탐구의 결과이며, 미술교육에 적용할 수 있도록 제시된 지식의 구조이자 핵심 내용이다. 특히 교육과정에 제시된 각 영역별, 범주별 내용 요소는 미술과 학습을 통해서 학습자가 명확히 알아야 하는 지식이나 개념, 이해를 위한 필수 학습 요소라 할 수 있는데, 이는 각 영역에서의 지식과 이해교육을 위한 전제가 된다. 오늘날 미술교육에서 지식과 이해교육은 학습자에게 새로운 정보와 경험을 제공하고, 미술 교과의 정체성 확립과 교과 목표 달성을 위해 더욱 적극적으로 요구되고 있다. 우리 미술교육에서는 사회와 학습자가 필요로 하는 새로운 지식을 구성하기 위해 노력해야 하며, 이를 학습자의 심화된 이해로 연계하기 위한 교육 방안에 대해 끊임없이 탐구해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This research has tried to identify the context and content of teaching knowledge and understanding in art education. Knowledge is defined as human's clear consciousness based on experience about various objects, phenomena, events, etc. and understanding is defined as the ability to think and perform such knowledge flexibly. Teaching knowledge is to acquire the meaning of knowledge specifically, while teaching understanding focuses on grasping generalizations and principles from the connection between the content and meaning of patterned knowledge. Teaching knowledge and understanding in art education has been shaped and changed in its perspective and content by the changes in western art education, the development of various disciplines, and the changes and proposals in the curriculum system. The various contents presented here are the result of the academic exploration of art educators over a long period of time, and are the structure and core content of the knowledge presented for application in art education. In particular, the content elements of each area and category presented in the curriculum can be said to be essential learning elements for knowledge, concepts, and understandings that learners should clearly know through art and learning, which are the prerequisites for teaching knowledge and understanding in each area. Today, teaching knowledge and understanding is actively required in art education to provide learners with new information and experiences, to establish the identity of the art department and to fulfill the curriculum goals. In art education, we should strive to construct new knowledge that society and learners need, and we should constantly explore teaching methods to connect it to learners' deepened understanding.
