헤겔과 딜타이에서 전체와 부분의 순환 구조와 개별성 개념

국문 초록

딜타이는 자연과학과 대비되는 정신과학(Geisteswissenschaften)의 방법론을 제시한다. 딜타이에 따르면 역사적 세계에 바탕을 두고 있는 정신과학의 탐구 대상은 개별적 존재로서의 인간의 구체적인 ‘삶’ 또는 ‘삶의 체험’이다. 그런데 한 개체로서의 개별적 인간의 구체적인 삶은 삶의 표현들이나 작품으로 드러나고, 이 러한 표현들이나 작품들이 이해되기 위해서는 개별적 인간이 처한 문화적이고 역사 적인 문맥에서 추체험되고 해석되어야 한다. 이러한 연관성에서 삶의 체험을 이해 하기 위해 딜타이는 부분과 전체의 해석학적 순환이 필요함을 역설한다. 그런데 이 고찰은 다른 한편에서 세계를 자신 안에 포함하고 있는 독특한 의미의 인간 개별 성에 대한 해명이기도 한다. 딜타이는 전체와 부분의 해석학적 순환 구조를 통하여 현대철학의 중심 개념으로 간주되는 개별성 개념의 구조를 보여주었다. 딜타이에 앞서 이러한 개별성 개념의 형이상학적이고 논리적인 토대를 마련한 철학자가 바로 헤겔이다. 헤겔은 자신의 철학의 핵심적인 구조를 보여주는 전체와 부분 그리고 보 편성, 특수성, 개별성의 변증법적인 관계를 고찰하면서 어떻게 보편적인 것과 개별 적인 것이 유기적이고 변증법적인 관계 속에서 역동적으로 상호 관계하는지를 보여 준다. 딜타이는 헤겔이 확립한 형이상학적이고 논리적인 개별성 개념을 비판적으로 수용하여 이 개념을 현대적인 문맥에서 재구성함으로써 헤겔 철학의 현대적인 응용 가능성을 보여주었다.

영문 초록

Dilthey establishes the methodology of the human sciences (Geisteswissenschaften) in contrast with the natural sciences. According to him the human sciences, which are based on the historical world, pursue understanding the concrete life or the lived-experience of life of human being as the individual self. It is worth noting that this concrete life of the individual man appears as the expressions, and these expressions have to be interpreted and nach-erlebt in the cultural and historical context where man resides. In this respect Dilthey emphasizes the hermeneutic circle of the part and the whole in order to understand the expressions of life. But it should be noted that this investigation, on the other hand, leads to the explication of the genuine meaning of individuality of human being, who reflects in itself the surrounding world. Through this circular structure of the part and the whole Dilthey presents the novel concept of the individuality, which is considered as the pivotal concept of contemporary philosophy. However, it is Hegel who lays the foundation for the concept of individuality before Dilthey by explicating the dialectical relation between the part and the whole. Moreover in dialectical movement that indicates the essential structure of Hegel’s thoughts, we discover the relation of the universality, the particularity, and the singularity. In this investigation he shows how the universal is related to the particular or how the singular is interrelate to the totality dynamically in the organic and dialectical way. Dilthey is indeed influenced by Hegel, but he criticizes Hegel's metaphysical and logical concept of the individuality. In his hermeneutics, Dilthey who reconstructs his own concept of individuality within the contemporary context seeks to suggest a possibility of how we can apply Hegel’s thoughts in the contemporary.
