국문 초록

The idea of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT, hereafter) was popularized by Prabhu (1984). He believed in the learners, asserting that “the learner is just as likely to learn a language if they were thinking about a non-linguistic problem as when they were concentrating on particular language forms (p. 56).” This study aimmed to determine the features of TBLT in designing lesson plans for EFL or ESL students and to teach them using lesson plans. This lesson-making project involved investigating what TBLT refers to, providing teaching demonstrations, collecting newsgroup reactions via WebCT, and providing critical reviews. Therefore, this research consists of reviewing the typical features of TBLT in Section 2, providing the guidelines for using TBLT in the language classroom in Section 3, introducing newsgroup reactions in Section 4, and finally providing critical evaluations of TBLT in Section 5.

영문 초록

Prabhu(1984)는 “언어 학습자들은 명시적인 언어적 특성에 집중하여 학습하기 보다는, 비언어적 상황에서 언어 교수학습의 기회를 암시적으로 갖게 된다면. 언어 입력이 더욱 자연스러운 상황에서 입력(input)으로부터 흡입(intake) 단계로 발전해 나갈 수 있다고 주장하였다(p. 56).” 그러한 언어 교수학습의 개념을 바탕에 두고, 본 연구의 목적은 TBLT(과제기반) 수업의 원리를 기본 원리로 이루어지는 수업시연을 설계함으로서 TBLT의 특징을 파악하고, 그를 바탕으로 설계된 수업시연상황을 활용하여 외국어를 배우고자 하는 학습자들의 의사소통능력을 함양시키고자 시도하였다. 그리하여 우선, TBLT수업 설계를 위해서 TBLT의 개념과 원칙에 대하여 파악하고자 하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 수업 시연의 설계, 웹CT를 통한 뉴스그룹 반응의 수집, 비판적 검토와 수업 시연을 설계하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 그리하여 상기 연구의 구성은 2절에서는 TBLT의 전형적인 특징을 검토하고자 하였으며, 3절에서는 TBLT를 수업에 적용하기 위한 세부지침을 제시하고자 하였으며, 4절에서는 뉴스그룹 반응을 소개하고, 이어지는 5절에서는 TBLT에 대하여 비판적으로 평가하고자 하였다.
