교원 간 세대갈등에 대한 초등교원 인식 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 다양한 세대가 공존하는 교직사회 내 세대갈등에 주목하여 교원 간 세대갈등에 대한 초등학교 교원의 인식을 분석하였다. 인식 분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, X세대 및 M세대 교원이 세대갈등을 많이 경험한 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 학교 내에서 보직을 수행하는 중추적인 위치에 있기 때문이었다. 또한 주로 행정업무 및 복무에서 세대갈등이 많이 발생하였는데, 이는 교실이라는 공간을 넘어 동료교원들과의 만남과 대화가 필요한 영역이기 때문이었다. 둘째, 세대갈등 원인에서는 전반적으로 교사 개인의 특성, 교직관의 차이가주로 언급되었는데, 고연령 세대일수록 교사 개인의 차원으로, 저연령 세대일수록 학교구조및 문화의 차원으로 바라보고 있었다. 셋째, 교원들은 세대갈등이 발생하였을 때 ‘조용히 참고 넘어가기’ 방식을 가장 많이 활용하였다. 주목할만한 점은 베이비부머세대의 경우 ‘이해하고 받아들이기’ 방식이 가장 많은 반면, 이외 세대 교원은 주로 ‘조용히 참고 넘어가기’ 방식을 가장 많이 택하였다는 점이다. 본 연구는 교원 간 세대갈등에 대한 초등교원의 인식을 분석함으로써 교직사회에 대한 깊이있는 이해를 제고하고, 민주적이고 협력적인 학교문화 형성및 교원정책 수립에 시사하는 바가 클 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed elementary school teachers' perceptions of generational conflict between teachers by paying attention to generational conflicts in a teaching society where various generations coexist. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, it was found that Generation X and M teachers experienced a lot of generational conflicts because they were in a pivotal position to perform headteachers in schools. In addition, there were many generational conflicts, mainly in administrative work and service, because both are areas that requires meeting and conversation with fellow teachers beyond the space of classrooms. Second, differences in individual characteristics and teaching views were mainly mentioned in the causes of generational conflict, with the older generation looking at the individual level of teachers and the younger generation looking at the school structure and culture level. Third, teachers most often used the ‘quietly bear with it’ method when generational conflicts occurred. It is noteworthy that in the case of the baby boomers, the most common method of 'understanding and accepting' was taken, while other generations of teachers mainly chose the ‘quietly bear with it.’ This study is expected to enhance an in-depth understanding of the teaching society, and have great implications for forming a democratic and cooperative school culture and establishing teacher policies.
