청각장애인의 의사소통 방법 및 수어와 한국어에 관한 인식 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구는 청각장애인의 다양한 의사소통 방법과 현황을 살펴보고 대표적인 의사소통 방법인 수어와 한국어(음성언어, 문자언어)에 관한 인식을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 실시하였다. 연구자료는 ‘2020년 한국수어 활용 조사’를 사용하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청각장애인은 농학교 재학 경험에 따라 수어와 한국어에 관한 인식의 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 청각장애인이 청인과 대화할 때 의사소통하는 방법과 실제 원하는 의사소통 방법은 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 수어를 주된 언어로 사용하는 집단에서는 수어를, 수어가 아닌 의사소통 방법을 주로 사용하는 집단에서는 한국어를 더욱 긍정적으로 인식하였으며, 차이는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이러한 결과에 기반하여 청각장애인의 다양한 언어에 관한 긍정적 인식과 의사소통 역량 향상을 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

The present study was intended to shed light on diverse communication methods currently used by hearing impaired people and explore their recognition of sign language and Korean language(spoken and written language), both of which represent the communication methods that are primarily used among them. To that end, the‘2020 Korean Sign Language Utilization Survey’was used. Based on the findings of this study, first, hearing impaired people’s recognition of sign language and Korean language varied with their experience of attending the schools for the deaf. Second, the communication methods that hearing impaired people used with hearing people differed from those that they actually wanted to use. Third, the group primarily using sign language showed more positive recognition of sign language, whereas the group primarily using other communication methods than sign language showed more positive recognition of Korean language, where the difference between the two groups was statistically significant. These findings underpin the present suggestions for facilitating hearing impaired people’s positive recognition of diverse languages and thereby improving their communication skills.
