국문 초록

21세기 한국사회는 외국인 근로자들의 이주 노동과 함께 주변국 아시아 하층 여성들의 이주로 인해 다문화사회로 변화되었다. 기존 연구들은 주류 대 소수, 동화 대 배제, 국민대 이방인의 이분법적 틀에서 한국의 관주도 다문화주의 하에서 결혼이주여성들의 삶을 폭압적 가부장제의 희생양 혹은 지구화로 인한 성의 상품화로 분석하는 등 결혼이주여성들의 부적응과 타자화를 비판하는 것에 초점을 맞추었다. 그러나 결혼이주여성들은 한국사회의 성원이자 이주민으로서 종족적, 인종적 차이는 물론 다문화가정의 계급, 젠더 및 문화적 차이로 인한 다면적 관계와 복합적인 정체성의 동학을 드러내 왔다. 본 논문은 기존 연구들이 전제해 온 이분법적 경계를 넘어 ‘통섭적 관점’(intersectionality studies)에서 다양한 범주들의 사회적 자본과 주체의 대응의 측면에서 결혼이주여성들의 정체성이 어떻게 변화되어 왔는가를 비교분석하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Korean society has confronted an issue of the increasing number of underprivileged Asian migrant women and their multicultural family since the early 21st century. The prior research focused on criticizing the maladjustment and otherized lives of marriage migrant women by viewing them as the victims of the Korean patriarchy or the result from the commodification of sex through the dichotomous prism between the mainstream and minority, assimilation and exclusion, and nationals and foreigners. However, Asian marriage migrant women have experienced a dual or hybrid identity as the members of Korean society and created and recreated their complex identity through utilizing various social capitals in the multifaceted relationships of state, ethnicity, class, gender, race, and culture. The present study explores how Asian marriage migrant women have changed their identity in terms of the intersectionality studies encompassing multiple variables.
