교사의 비언어적 의사소통에 대한 1학년 학생들의 선호도 연구 - 칭찬과 꾸지람을 위한 신체접촉 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 1학년 학생들을 대상으로 교사의 비언어적 의사소통에 대한 학생들의 선호도를 확인하기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 특히 비언어적 의사소통 가운데 칭찬과 꾸지람이 일어나는 장면에서 신체적 접촉에 대한 학생들의 반응이 어떠한지를 살폈다. 연구 목적의 실현을 위하여 연구대상이 된 학생들 전체의 선호도 분석과 남녀간의 선호도 차이 등을 설문조사와 인터뷰를 통하여 확인하였다. 그 결과 학생들은 칭찬의 장면에서 머리(M=4.10), 팔(M=3.90), 등(M=3.87), 다리(M=3.87), 배(M=3.77)등의 순서를 선호하고, 꾸지람의 장면에서 머리(M=4.64), 배(M=3.90), 등(M=3.33), 팔(M=3.18), 다리(M=2.70) 순으로 선호하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 남녀 성별에 따른 선호도의 차이는 칭찬의 장면에서 팔, 배, 등, 다리가 서로 유의미한 차이가 있었는데 팔과 다리는 여학생이 남학생보다 더 선호하고 배와 등은 남학생이 여학생보다 더욱 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 꾸지람의 장면에서는 머리, 배, 등의 세 곳에서 통계상 유의미한 차이가 나타났는데 세 곳 모두 여학생이 남학생보다 더욱 선호하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 더불어 칭찬의 전체 평균은 남녀간에 차이가 나타나지 않은 반면 꾸지람에 대해서는 남녀간의 통계적 차이가 나타났다. 연구결과에 의하면 여학생이 남학생보다 꾸지람에 대해 더욱 선호하지 않는 것으로 드러났다. 이와 같은 연구 결과 를 통해 교실 현장에서 1학년 학생들과의 소통을 위해 교사가 사용할 수 있는 신체적 언어를 칭찬과 꾸지람의 장면에서 선별하여 사용할 수 있고 이를 통해 교사와 학생간의 원활한 의사전달 및 감정교류가 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the preference of firstgrade elementary school students for the nonverbal communication of teachers. It's specifically meant to investigate the response of students to physical contact in situations of praise and scolding among different sorts of nonverbal communication. A survey was conducted on the selected students to find out their overall preference and gender differences in that aspect, and they were interviewed as well. As a result, it's found that the part of the body that they wanted to be touched the most when they were praised was the head(M=4.10), followed by arms(M=3.90), back(M=3.87), legs(M=3.87) and abdomen (3.77). The part of the body that they wanted not to be touched the most when they were scolded was the head(M=4.64), followed by abdomen(M=3.90), back(M=3.33), arms(M=3.18) and legs(M=2.70). As for gender differences in the preference, there were significant differences between the boys and the girls in preference for arms, abdomen, back and legs as their favorite part of the body to be touched in situations of praise. The girls had a more liking for arms and legs than the boys, and the latter had a higher preference for abdomen and back. In situations of scolding, there were statistically significant gender differences in preference for the head, abdomen and back. The girls had a less preference for all the three parts than the boys. There were no differences between the boys and the girls in total average scores for praise, whereas statistical gender differences were found in total average scores for scolding. The girls had a less preference for scolding than the boys. The findings of the study are expected to help teachers who communicate with first-grade students in the classroom to make the most out of physical language in situations of praise and scolding on a selective basis, which will serve, in turn, to facilitate their communication and emotional exchange with students.
