초급 피아노 독보의 음고 개념(Pitch Concepts) 확립을 위한 교수·학습 자료 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 초급 학습자를 대상으로 하는 대학의 피아노 실습 환경에서 독보(reading music)의 음고(音高, pitch) 개념 정립을 위해 사용되는 교수·학습 자료의 특징을 분석하여 효율적인 독보 지도 방법을 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 피아노 교육학자, 제이콥슨(J. M. Jacobson)의 논의에 따르면, 초급 피아노 교육에서 요구되는 기초 독보 학습 요소는 리듬과 음고 개념으로 분류할 수 있으며, 음고 교육은 음이름, 반음과 온음, 다섯손가락자리, 조성, 3화음, 음계 등의 요소를 포함하는 개념학습으로 구성된다(2006). 따라서 본 연구에서는 미국 대학의 대표적인 클래스피아노 교재들의 특징을 관찰하여, 그들이 사용하는 음고 개념 교수·학습 자료의 종류와 방법을 분석하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 초급 학습자의 음고 개념 이해를 위해 건반 그림의 시각 자료가 다양한 형태의 교육 도구로 제공되고 있음을 발견할 수 있었으며, 학습자의 논리적인 사고를 활성화하도록 돕기 위한 규칙 기반의 교수 아이디어와 모형들을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구가 음악 학습 입문자를 위한 초급 피아노 교육 현장에서 유익한 아이디어로 활용될 수 있기를 바란다.

영문 초록

The study was purposed to examine teaching and learning materials for college beginning class piano students who do not have any educational experience about fundamental music theories to read music in the piano lab. Piano beginners should understand music concepts and skills for reading music before learning how to play the piano successfully. In the following J. M. Jacobson’s discussion, the conceptual learning to read music can be divided into rhythm and pitch concepts(2006). In particular, the basic pitch concepts in reading music included music alphabet and key names, half and whole steps, five-finger positions, key signatures, triads, and scales. In this research, typical class-piano materials used for college students of elementary piano levels in USA were observed to discover the effective teaching ways for piano beginners to gain their proper knowledge about the pitch concepts. The materials were carefully analyzed focused on the features and the way of the presentation for conceptual learning of the pitch and music theory elements. As a result of this study, visual materials of the keyboard shapes were abundantly produced to make the piano beginners understand the pitch concepts easily. Moreover, it was revealed that the rule-based teaching ideas and instructional models were widely presented to help them to promote their logical thoughts while applying for their performance demonstrations on the piano keyboard. Hopefully, it is helpful for music pedagogues to get their great teaching ideas for novice pianists.
