보청기 미착용자가 인식하는 난청 경험에 대한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 보청기 미착용자 노인 난청인이 인식하고 있는 건강상태, 사회․정서적, 청능재활에 대한 경험을 탐구하고자 분석되었으며 이를 위해 65세 이상 노인 난청인 5명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인 난청인이 경험하고 있는 건강상태를 분석한 결과 4개의 하위범주(난청에 대한 무지, 이명이라는 난관 봉착, 대안적 방법 모색, 치료에 대한 기대)와 10개의 의미단위가 도출되었다. 둘째, 연구참여자의 사회․정서적 경험을 분석한 결과 6개의 하위범주(제한된 듣기, 사회적 고립, 관계 위축, 위축된 자신감, 사회적지지, 난청의 덫)와 15개의 의미단위가 도출되었다. 셋째, 연구참여자들의 난청으로 인한 청능재활의 경험에 관한 분석결과는 3개의 하위범주(치료의 부적절함, 망설임, 희망찾기)와 9개의 의미단위가 도출되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 노년기 청각손실에 대한 중재는 보청기 및 인공와우와 같은 청각보조장치의 사용과 청능재활프로그램(aural rehabilitation program)의 참여로 일상생활에서 효과를 볼 수 있도록 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to explore the health status, social․emotional, and auditory rehabilitation experiences perceived by the elderly who do not wear hearing aids. For the purpose, the depth interview was conducted for the 5 elderly people with presbycusis over 65 years old. The research results are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing the health status experienced by the people with presbycusis, 4 subcategories (tough relationship with tinnitus, seeking alternative methods, expectations for treatment, ignorance of hearing loss) and 10 semantic units were derived. Second, as a result of analyzing the social and emotional experiences of the participants, six subcategories (limited listening, social isolation, relationship atrophy, atrophied confidence, social support, and the trap of hearing loss) and 15 semantic units were derived. Third, the results of analysis on the participants' experiences of hearing rehabilitation due to hearing loss were derived from 3 subcategories (inappropriate treatment, hesitation, and finding hope) and 9 semantic units. Based on the results of this study, the implications were suggested in terms of the interventions for hearing loss in old age to the use of hearing aids such as hearing aids and cochlear implants, and to participate in an aural rehabilitation program showing the effect on everyday life.
