청각장애학교로 전학한 농․난청학생의 경험과 요구

국문 초록

이 연구는 일반학교에 다니다가 청각장애학교로 전학한 농․난청학생을 대상으로 일반학교와 청각장애학교에서의 학교생활 경험을 알아보고, 이들이 다니고 싶은 학교의 이상적인 모습은 어떠한지를 밝히기 위하여 실시되었다. 이를 위하여 농․난청학생을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청각장애학교로 전학한 청각장애학생은 농․난청학생의 특성을 고려한 학습지원과 사회․정서적 지원이 필요하다고 하였다. 학습지원 경험에서는 청각장애 특성에 따른 교사의 교육적 지원과 청력 손실로 인한 최소 제한적인 수업 참여가 필요하다고 인식하였다. 사회․정서적 지원에서는 정체성 형성의 중요성과 즐겁고 다양한 활동이 필요하다고 인식하였다. 둘째, 청각장애학생이 다니고 싶은 학교의 모습은 자기를 이해해 주는 친구가 많은 학교, 나에게 맞는 수업을 할 수 있는 교사가 있는 학교, 나에게 필요한 지원을 제공하는 학교, 진로에 대한 고민을 함께 할 수 있는 학교라고 인식하였다. 이 연구는 통합교육과 분리교육이라는 서로 다른 교육적 환경을 모두 경험한 농․난청학생을 대상으로 연구하였다는 점에서 차별성이 있으며, 이들의 경험과 요구에서 드러난 학습지원과 사회․정서적 지원, 이상적인 학교의 모습을 제안하여 청각장애학교의 새로운 역할과 모습을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to find out the school experiences of deaf or hard of hearing students who transferred to a deaf school after attending a general school and to find out what the ideal school they want to attend is. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with deaf or hard of hearing students. The results are as follows. First, deaf of hard of hearing students who transferred to schools for the deaf need learning support and social-emotional support according to the characteristics of deaf or hard-of-hearing students. In the learning support experience, it was recognized that the teacher's educational support according to the characteristics of deaf or hard of hearing and class participation regardless of hearing loss were necessary. In social and emotional support, it was recognized that the importance of identity formation and the need for fun and diverse activities were important. Second, the school that deaf or hard of hearing students want to attend were a school with many friends who understand them, a school with teachers who can teach them appropriately, a school that provides the support they need, and a school where they can share their concerns about career. This study is differentiated in that it was conducted on deaf or hard of hearing students who experienced both the different educational environments of general school and deaf school. And also, it is meaningful in that it suggested a new role of a school for the deaf.
