김형준의 근대 시민사회 비판과 ‘신세대론’

국문 초록

연구 목적 현대 한국사회는 근대시민사회의 연장이라 할 수 있다. 근대시민사회의 근본적인 문제점을 우리의 사유로 성찰하고 그 대안을 모색하는 것은 중요하다. 본 연구는 김형준이 동학의 인내천주의에 바탕하여 어떻게 근대시민사회를 비판하고 신세대론을 전개시켰는지 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 또한 근대시민사회의 연장선에 있는 현대 세계시민론의 문제점을 검토해보고자 하였다. 연구 내용 근대시민사회의 뿌리는 실증성과 합리성을 두 축으로 하는 자연과학적 인식과 개인주의(자유주의)에 있다. 김형준은 이러한 근대시민사회의 원리를 철학적으로 분석ㆍ비판하였고, W. 딜타이나 K. 만하임과 같은 서구 근대 비판이론들을 소개하였다. 또한 그는 신세대론을 전개하여 근대시민사회를 극복할 주체의 형성과 원리의 전환을 촉구하였다. 여기서 원리의 전환이란 동학의 인내천에 기반한 것으로서 자연과학적 인식에서 우주생명의 역사적 인식으로의 전환이었고, 주관과 객관의 대립적 통일, 개인과 전체의 지양적 통일을 의미했다. 결론 서구 근대시민사회는 봉건적 억압으로부터의 시민해방을 이루었다. 그러나 점차 자유경쟁을 근간으로 한 자본주의는 독점자본으로, 자유민주주의는 파쇼 독재정치로 전화되었다. 김형준은 이러한 근대시민사회의 뿌리가 모나드적인 자연과학적 인식과 개인적 자유주의에 있음을 간파하였고, 만하임과 딜타이의 이론에 동조 및 비판을 가하면서 인내천의 사상적 동귀일체를 지향해 나갔다. 그리고 근본적인 원리의 전환을 제기하면서 이를 신세대론과 국제민주시민의 주요 핵심으로 삼았다.

영문 초록

PURPOSE Modern human society is an extension of modern civil society. It is important to reflect on the fundamental problems of modern civil society through our own thinking and to seek alternatives. The purpose of this study is to examine how Kim Hyeong-jun criticized modern civil society and developed the new generation theory based on Donghak's perseverance cosmos. He also tried to examine the problems of modern world citizenship as an extension of modern civil society. CONTENTS The roots of modern civil society lie in the natural science and individualism (liberalism) with two axes of positivism and rationality. Kim Hyung-jun philosophically analyzed and criticized these principles of modern civil society, and introduced Western modern critical theories such as W. Dilthey and K. Mannheim. RESULTS Western modern civil society achieved civil liberation from feudal oppression. But gradually, based on free competition, capitalism was transformed into monopoly capital, and liberal democracy into fascist dictatorship. Kim Hyeong-jun saw that the roots of modern civil society lie in the monadic natural scientific awareness and individual liberalism, and he sympathized with and criticized the theories of Mannheim and Dilthey, and pursued the ideological unity of Innaecheonism. And, while proposing a change of fundamental principle to overcome this, it was taken as the main core of the new generation theory and global citizenship. A global citizen, as Kim Hyeong-jun means, corresponds to a creative person who will represent all mankind, an international democratic citizen, and a world-historical individual.
