국문 초록

본 연구는 가부장적 문화에서 살아온 노년 여성의 경험 이야기와 삶의 의미를 탐구한 것이다. 연구참여자는 자녀를 출가시키고 남편과 동거 중인 60대 후반 여성 2명이다. 자료수집은 총 8회의 집단 인터뷰와 미술작업으로 이루어졌고, 개인 인터뷰를 강연홍은 2회, 박지순은 4회 실시하였다. 참여자의 녹음된 인터뷰를 전사한 축어록, 미술작품, 관찰노트 등의 자료를 활용하여 존재론적 탐구 절차에 따라 자료를 해석하였다. 탐구과정에서 나타난 강연홍의 삶의 경험 이야기는‘나의 뿌리는 부모님이다’, ‘고통을 안고 견디다’, ‘가부장 제도에서 강요받은 인내와 돌봄’, ‘내 마음 알아주는 자식이 좋다.’, ‘노년, 나를 찾다’, ‘희생하면서 살았기 때문에 나를 부각시킨다’이며, 서지순의 삶의 이야기는 ‘순결을 지키기 위해 결혼을 결심하다’, ‘착한 남편의 다른 모습을 보다’, ‘남편과 시부모님의 배신’, ‘퇴직 후 세 집 살림하는 할머니가 되다’, ‘나를 이야기하고 즐겁게 살아가다’이다. 삶의 이야기를 통해 해석된 경험의 의미는‘가부장적 가족문화의 고통’, ‘가족을 돌봄으로 끌어안음’, ‘이해하고 존중하는 마음’이다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study explored the experiences of and meaning of life for elderly women who have lived in a patriarchal culture. The study participants were two women in their late 60s living with their husbands after their children had left. Data collection consisted of a total of eight group interviews and art work, and individual interviews were conducted with both Hong Kang and Ji-Soon Park a total of four times. The data were interpreted according to the ontological inquiry procedure using materials such as verbatim comments, art works, and observation notes transcribed from the recorded interviews of the participants. The stories of Kang Yeon-hong's life experiences revealed in the course of the investigation were “My roots are my parents,” “I endure with pain,” “Patience and care forced by the patriarchal system,” “I like a child who understands my heart,” “Old age,” “Find me,” and “I highlight myself because I lived with sacrifice.” The stories of Seo Ji-soon’s life were “I decided to get married to keep my chastity,” “Looking at a different side of my good husband,” “The betrayal of my husband and my parents-in-law,” “Becoming a grandmother who lives in three houses after retirement,” and “Talking about me and living happily”. The meaning of the experience interpreted through the story of life is “The pain of the patriarchal family culture,” “embracing the family with care,” and “Understanding and respecting the mind.” Based on these research results, the significance and limitations of this study were then discussed.
