남궁억(南宮檍)의 가족치유(家族治癒) 연구 - 『家庭敎育』의 맹아적(萌芽的) 의의를 중심으로 -

국문 초록

이 글은 남궁억의 『家庭敎育』을 통해 가족치유에 관한 맹아적 의의를 고찰한 것이다. 남궁억에 관한 선행연구는 그의 업적을 중심으로 애국 활동을 논한 것이 주를 이룬다. 그런데 이 글은 『家庭敎育』의 내용을 전달하는 것뿐만 아니라 ‘가족치유’라는 철학적 실천에 대한 새로운 관점을 모색함으로써 기존의 연구들과 차별화하였다. 논자가 남궁억의 가족치유를 논하는 이유는 가족 구성원이 그가 저술한 『家庭敎育』의 내용을 일상적으로 실천하면 그것이 가족치유의 방법이 되기 때문이다. 이 글은 남궁억이 일제강점기에 핍박의 상황에서도 가족치유를 선도한 것에 의미를 두었다. 이는 개인주의가 만연된 현대 가족의 기능향상에도 본보기가 될 것이다. 이 글의 목적을 이루기 위하여 전반부에서 『家庭敎育』의 내용을 탐구하고, 중반부에서 『家庭敎育』에 담긴 가족치유의 의미를 논하였으며 후반부에서는 일제강점기 가족치유 영역의 맹아적 의의를 도출하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정명사상의 실천을 통해 가정의 정화(淨化)를 이루는 것이다. 『家庭敎育』은 가정주부의 본분(本分)을 중시한 실천서이다. 당시 가정주부의 본분은 일제로부터 유린당한 가정을 다시 정화하는 직분(職分)을 의미한다. 둘째, 유학의 제가사상에 근거하여 여성의 강점을 격려하고 이로써 가정이 보전(保全)되도록 하는 것이다. 이는 가족 구성원 모두가 조화를 이루어 상생하도록 돕는 것에 의의가 있다. 셋째, 친친사상 확대를 통해 국가의 재건(再建)을 도모하였다. 우리나라의 가정은 오랜 세월에 걸쳐 전통적으로 가장의 통솔에 따르는 가부장적 가족 구도였다. 그런데 일제강점기에 가장의 역할은 일제의 억압으로 축소되었거나 가장이 없는 가정도 많았다. 따라서 여성의 기능을 향상하여 가정을 재건하는 것은 탈 세습적인 양상이며 이는 맹아적이라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study is to examine the beginning significance of family healing through Namgoong-uck's 『The Education of Family』. Previous studies on Namgoong-uck mainly focused on his achievements and discussed patriotic activities. However, this study differentiated itself from existing studies by not only delivering the contents of 『The Education of Family』 but also seeking a new perspective on the philosophical practice of 'family healing'. The reason why the thesis discusses Namgung-uck's family healing is that if a family member routinely practices the contents of 『The Education of Family』, which he wrote, it becomes a way of family healing. This study was meaningful in that Namgoong-uck led the family healing even in the situation of persecution in Japanese colonial era. This will also serve as an example for the improvement of the function of modern families, where individualism is prevalent. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, We will closely explore the contents of 『The Education of Family』in the first half, discuss the meaning of family healing in 『The Education of Family』 in the middle, and discuss the beginning significance of the family healing area under the Japanese colonial rule in the second half. The results of the study are as follows. First, it is to purify the family through the practice of Zheng-ming Thoughts. The Education of Family is a practice book that emphasizes the role of housewives. At that time, the duty of a housewife means the job of re-purifying a family that was violated by the Japanese colonial government. Second, it is to encourage women's strengths based on Jega thoughts in Confucianism, so that their families is preserved. This is meaningful in helping all family members co-prosperity in harmony. Third, the reconstruction of the state was promoted through the expansion of Chinchin Thoughts. Korea's family has traditionally been a patriarchal family structure under the leadership of the head of the household for many years. However, the role of the head of the family in Japanese colonial era was reduced due to Japanese oppression, or there were many families without the head of the family. Therefore, By the improving of women's functions is rebuild families, which can be said to be the beginning significance and de-hereditary aspect.
