성소수자 내담자를 만난 미술치료사의 경험 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 성소수자인 내담자를 만나 미술치료를 진행한 미술치료사의 경험을 이해하는 것이다. 참여자는 성소수자 내담자를 대상으로 미술치료를 10회기 이상, 1사례 이상 진행한 경험이 있는 미술치료사 5명이다. 자료 수집을 위해 심층면담을 진행하였으며 수집된 자료는 Giorgi의 현상학적 방법을 통해 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 21개의 하위 구성요소, 7개의 구성요소로 도출되었다. 연구결과는 ‘성소수자 내담자를 만남, 내담자의 커밍아웃에 다양한 감정을 느낌, 성소수자인 내담자의 아픔을 이해하고 공감함, 성소수자 내담자와의 미술치료 과정에서 다양한 어려움을 경험함, 성소수자 내담자의 자기탐색 및 수용의 과정을 함께함, 성소수자 내담자와의 미술치료를 위해 치료사로서 노력함, 치료사, 그리고 한 개인으로서 성장을 경험함’이다. 연구결과를 통하여 성소수자 내담자들과의 미술치료 과정이 비성소수자인 내담자와 다르지 않음을 알 수 있었으며 동시에 성소수자 내담자를 만났기에 특별히 경험한 것이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 의의와 제한점에 대하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of art therapists who work with LGBTQ+ clients. Participants of this study were five art therapists who had more than 10 sessions with and at least one case involving an LGBTQ+ client. All participants were interviewed in depth. The collected data were then analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological method. Based on the analysis, the following seven themes were identified: “meeting with LGBTQ+ clients,” “feeling a lot of emotions at first meeting with clients,” “understanding and sympathizing with LGBTQ+ client‘s suffering,” “having difficulties in art therapy with LGBTQ+ clients, helping to accommodate oneself as a sexual minority,” and “growing up as therapists and individuals.” According to the results the process of art therapy with sexual minority clients is the same as that of with non-sexual minority clients. In addition, therapists also viewed some experiences as “special” due to meeting LGBTQ+ clients. The implications of the results and study limitations were discussed based on the above results.
