지시문 기반 예술의 미술사적 계보와 온·오프라인 미술교육에서의 활용 사례

국문 초록

본 연구는 지시문 기반 예술의 미술사적 계보를 살펴보며, 지시문을 활용한 온·오프라인 미술교육의 다양한 사례를 탐구한다. 그리고 미술사와 미술 교육에서의 여러 사례를 바탕으로 미술교육자가 지시문 기반 예술을 활용할 수 있는 전략을 제시한다. 지시문 기반 예술에서는 지시문과 이의 해석 및 수행이 모두 예술로 여겨질 수 있으며, 참여자가 지시문을 다양하게 해석할 것을 촉구한다. 지시문 기반 예술의 시작과 변천은 뒤샹, 초현실주의, 플럭서스, 개념미술, 두 잇(《do it》)과 동시대 작가들의 다양한 작업을 중심으로 살펴보며, 지시문을 활용한 미술교육 사례는 다양한 대상과 상황을 중심으로 온·오프라인 사례를 모두 탐구한다. 이와 같은 문헌 및 사례연구를 기반으로 지시문을 활용하는 미술교육자의 전략을 다음과 같이 다섯 가지로 제안한다. 첫째, 학생들이 예술가의 지시문을 수행한다. 둘째, 교육자가 직접 지시문을 제작하여 학생들이 수행한다. 셋째, 학생들이 지시문을 스스로 생성한다. 넷째, 학생들이 지시문 생성과 수행을 동시다발적으로 경험한다. 다섯째, 공간과 시간의 제약을 넘어서 다양하게 수행할 수 있는 방안을 고안한다. 미술교육에서 지시문 기반 예술을 활용하는 것은 학생들이 현대 미술과 동시대 예술의 일부를 경험하고, 과정을 중시하며, 미술에 대해 새롭게 생각할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the art-historical lineage of instruction-based art and explores online and classroom art education examples which utilize instruction-based art. Based on several examples in art history and art education, this study identifies strategies for utilizing instruction-based art for art educators. For instruction-based art, the instruction, as well as its interpretations or executions are regarded equally as art, and participants are encouraged to interpret the instruction in various ways. This study explains the beginnings and lineage of instruction-based art by focusing on Duchamp, surrealism, Fluxus, conceptual art, do it, and various works of contemporary artists. In addition, five online and classroom art education examples are explored focusing on various targets and situations. As a result, this study proposes art education strategies utilizing instruction-based art as follows: 1) students perform artists’ instructions; 2) art educators create instructions; 3) students generate instructions themselves; 4) students experience both the creation and execution of instructions simultaneously; 5) devise a plan that goes beyond the constraints of space and time. Utilizing instruction-based art in art education provides opportunities for students to experience, if not all, contemporary art, value the process of art-making, and think anew about art.
