국문 초록

본 연구는 성인 발달장애 자녀를 돌보는 어머니의 심리적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 요인들 간의 관계를 살펴보기 위해 스트레스-평가-대처이론에 의거하여 돌봄 경험 평가와 통합성의 순차적 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 충북지역과 경기지역에 소재한 장애인 복지시설을 이용하는 성인 발달장애인의 어머니를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 207명의 응답을 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 어머니의 자아탄력성과 통합성, 자녀의 신체적 자립, 활동지원 만족도, 돌봄 부담감, 돌봄 만족감, 어머니의 심리적 안녕감 간에 유의한 영향 관계가 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 자아탄력성, 자녀의 신체적 자립, 활동지원 만족도는 돌봄 경험 평가를 매개하여 통합성에 영향을 미쳤고, 어머니의 자아탄력성, 자녀의 신체적 자립은 통합성을 매개하여 심리적 안녕감에 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 어머니의 자아탄력성과 심리적 안녕감 간의 관계에서 돌봄 만족감과 통합성이 순차적 매개효과를 보였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 성인 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 심리적 안녕감을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안에 대한 이론적·실제적 함의를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to verify the sequential mediating effect of caregiving appraisal and sense of coherence based on the stress-appraisal-coping model to improve the psychological well-being of mothers caring for adult children with developmental disabilities. To this end, we conducted a survey of mothers who care for adult children ages 18 or over with developmental disabilities at home and who use services at welfare center for disabled people, etc., located in Chungcheongbukdo and Gyeonggido regions and 207 surveys were used for statistical analysis. First, mothers’ego-resilience and sense of coherence strengthened their psychological well-being, and children’s physical independence and the level of satisfaction with support inversely affected mothers’burden of caregiving. Second, the analysis of mediating effects showed that mothers’ ego-resilience, children’s physical independence, satisfaction with activity support affected mothers’sense of coherence via caregiving appraisal. Mothers’ego-resilience and children’s physical independence positively affected mothers’psychological well-being via sense of coherence. Third, the analysis of sequential mediating effects showed that satisfaction with caregiving and the sense of coherence had sequential mediating effects on the relationship between mothers’ego-resilience and psychological well-being, and the burden of caregiving duty and the sense of coherence had sequential mediating effects on the relationship between children’s physical independence and mothers’psychological well-being. Based on this results, theoretical and practical implications were presented for ways to improve the psychological well-being of mothers of children with adult developmental disabilities.
