백제 사비기 목관과 부속구의 변천과 위계

국문 초록

본고는 백제 사비기 목관을 복원하고 이에 사용된 부속구의 형식 검토를 바탕으로 하여 변천 양상과 그 요인을 살펴보고 목관과 부속구의 위계 등급을 설정해 보았다. 사비기 목관 중 부속구의 상태가 온전하며 조합을 확인할 수 있는 고분을 대상으로 하여 21개를 새롭게 복원하고 기존에 복원된 4개체의 목관을 재검토하였다. 부속구는 주로 확인되는 관고리와 관정을 중심으로 각각 형식을 분류하였다. 복원한 목관 중 시간성을 반영하는 왕릉급 목관의 변화를 통해 크게 두 단계로 분류하였으며, 부속구 각 형식의 등장과 소멸을 기점으로 세부 단계를 구분하였다. Ⅰ-1단계에는 목관에서 옻칠과 관고리 사용이 지속되었으며, 부속구에서는 고구려의 영향으로 반구형원두정이 출현하고, 원형관고리와 받침쇠 없는 관고리의 사용이 증가하였다. Ⅰ-2단계에는 중국의 목관에서 보이는 상원하방형·제형 목관이 사용되었고, 부속구의 형식 및 사용 범위가 확산되었다. 이에 따라 새로운 부속구(화형b관고리, 우산형원두정)가 출현하며 위계에 따라 조합을 다르게 사용한 것으로 추정하였다. Ⅱ단계에는 목관과 부속구가 전반적으로 간소화되는데, 목관에서는 옻칠과 관고리가 사라지고, 새로운 부속구인 받침금구와 꽂이금구, 화형c관고리와 곡정이 등장하였다. 여기에는 중국의 영향이 이어지는 가운데 상장례의 변화가 있었을 것으로 추정된다. 또한 목관의 전체 형태, 수종, 두께, 부속구의 형식, 개수 등을 종합하여 목관과 부속구의 위계를 총 6개의 군(A~F군)으로 설정하였으며, 석실묘의 가공 정도와 공반유물로 이를 검증하였다. 목관과 부속구는 석실의 위계와 함께 피장자의 위계에 따라 장식 정도와 부속구 조합을 다르게 사용한 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

This study presents the results of the restoration of wooden coffins of the Sabi Baekje period. It examines the changing nature of the wooden coffins, as well as the factors associated with these changes based on accessory type. A hierarchical grading of the wooden coffins and accessories is also proposed. Among the wooden coffins of Sabi Baekje, 21 coffin were restored and the existing four restored wooden coffins were also reviewed. Accessories were classified into types mainly based on the identification of coffin rings and coffin nails. Two main stages were established, and sub-stages were additionally established according to the appearance and disappearance of each accessory type. In stage I-1, lacquer and coffin rings continued to be used in wooden coffins. In terms of the accessories, hemispherical nails appeared due to Goguryeo influence and the use of circular and non-plate coffin rings increased. In stage I-2, wooden coffin, which were trapizoid in shape, with rounded tops and angled bottoms, were used due to Chinese infleunce, and the type and scope of accessory use spread. Accordingly, it was estimated that new accessories appeared and their combination differed according to hierarchy. In Stage II, wooden coffins and accessories generally became simplified, and lacquer and coffin rings disappeared; new accessories, such as supporting plugging tools, petal-shaped c coffin rings, and curves nails, appeared. In addition, a total of six groups (groups A to F) were set up by synthesizing the overall shape, tree species, thickness, type and number of accessories of the wooden coffins; the groups were verified according to the degree of processing and commonly discovered artifacts in the tombs. It was judged that the degree of decoration and the combination of accessories were used differently depending on the hierarchy of the deceased owner, along with the hierarchy of the ancient tomb.
