국문 초록

이 연구에서는 학문 목적 한국어 교재에 젠더, 국가 및 인종, 문화권, 계층, 장애에 대한 고정관념이 어떤 양상으로 드러나는지 삽화와 텍스트를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 교재에 삽화나 텍스트 소재로 남성이 여성보다 더 많이 등장하고 텍스트의 저자가 남성에 편중되어 있는 경향을 파악하였다. 이는 교재에 한국 사회에서 상대적인 소수자인 여성이 비가시화되는 형태로 성별에 대한 편견이 반영되는 현상으로 볼 수 있다. 텍스트에서는 성별에 따른 전형적인 고정관념이 드러나는 묘사와 서술이 나타났고, 여성에 대한 언어적 편견도 관찰되었다. 국가 및 인종 면에서는 삽화와 텍스트 모두에서 미국, 일본, 중국 등 한국과 지정학적으로 가까운 국가, 백인 중심의 인종이 차지하는 비중이 높아 그 밖의 국가와 인종이 비가시화되는 현상을 볼 수 있었다. 문화권의 경우 한국 문화에 대한 자문화 중심주의적인 서술 경향과 서구 유럽 문화권을 중심으로 한 서술 경향이 고정관념화와 언어적 편견의 형태로 드러났다. 그리고 텍스트는 화이트칼라의 눈높이에 맞추어 서술되는 경향과 장애인에 대한 비가시화, 언어적 편견을 찾아볼 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study examined illustrations and texts on how stereotypes about gender, country and race, culture, class, and disability are revealed in Korean textbooks for academic purposes. As a result, it was found that men appeared more than women in illustrations and texts, and the author of the text was biased toward men. This can be seen as a gender prejudice in the form of invisibility about women who are relative minorities in Korean society. In the text, descriptions of typical stereotypes according to gender appeared, and verbal prejudice against women was also observed. In terms of country and race, in both illustrations and texts, countries such as the United States, Japan, and China, and white-centered races that are geopolitically close to Korea such as the United States, Japan, and China accounted for a high proportion. This phenomenon indicates that other countries and races become invisible. In the case of culture, the tendency of self-culture-centered description of Korean culture and the tendency of description centered on Western European culture were revealed in the form of stereotyping and linguistic prejudice. In addition, text tended to be described from a white-collar perspective, and invisiblization and verbal prejudice against the disabled could be found.
