남성노인의 생애사를 통해 본 가정폭력의 변화양상

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 남성노인의 생애사를 통해 가정폭력의 변화양상을 분석하는 것이다. 이에, 남성노인 A씨의 생애사를 Rosenthal의 내러티브-생애사 인터뷰 방법에 따라 수집ㆍ분석하였다. 그 결과, A씨의 이야기된 생애사는 스스로를 끊임없이 피해자의 위치에 두는 서사구조에 따라 구성되는데, 반면 그의 체험된 생애사에서는 부의 편애 피해자로부터 가정폭력 가해자로 변화되는 삶이 이루어졌고, 이어 가정폭력 가해자임과 동시에 노인학대 피해자까지 중첩되는 삶이 이루어지고 있어, 서로 현격한 차이를 보였다. 즉, 결혼 시까지의 청년기에서는 형만을 인정하는 부의 편애 속에서 전략적인 결혼을 통해 부의 인정을 받고자하나 실패한 편애 피해자로서의 삶이 두드러졌다. 그리고 결혼 이후 이혼 시까지의 장년기에서는 가족을 방치할 뿐만 아니라 외도와 폭력을 일삼는 가정폭력 가해자로 전환된 삶이 두드러졌으며, 이혼 이후 전기 노년기에 이르기까지에서는 자녀들과 관계를 단절한 가정폭력 가해자로서의 삶이 계속해서 이어졌다. 이어 전기 노년기에 이르러서는 자녀들로부터 방임이 된 노인학대 피해자로서의 삶까지 중첩이 되었으며, 후기 노년기가 진행되고 있는 현재에도 이러한 가해자와 피해자가 중첩된 삶은 계속해서 이어지고 있었다. 이에, 이러한 연구결과에 기초하여 가정폭력과 관련한 사회복지실천 및 생애사 연구에 시사하는 함의를 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The aim of this research is to analyze the changing aspects of domestic violence based on the biography of a male elderly. The male elderly ‘A’ and his family have been interviewed by using the Rosenthal’s method. The biographical data have been analysed subsequently. As a result, a life as told of ‘A’ is constructed on a narrative structure which constantly portrays himself as the victim. While a life as experienced demonstrates that ‘A’ converted from a victim of child abuse into a domestic violence perpetrator. Ultimately, from a domestic violence perpetrator he became the victim of elderly abuse. To summarize, in ‘A’s adolescence the father showed partiality for his older brother. With his strategic marriage ‘A’ tried to get recognized by his father, but this attempt failed. His life continued as an abused son. After marriage he neglected his own family until the marriage ended in divorce in his late middle age. ‘A’ became the domestic violence perpetrator by using physical violence against his family and by getting involved in numerous extramarital affairs. From the time of his divorce until his early elderly age, ‘A’ continued being the domestic violence perpetrator. Eventually, the relationship with his children was completely disconnected. After his early elderly age, ‘A’ got in turn neglected from his children. He became the victim of elderly abuse. As analysed, his life continued being abused until the present. Currently, ‘A’ is in his late elderly age. Based on th research results, some implications for social welfare practice and biographical research about domestic violence were suggested.
