춘정 변계량의 가계와 학맥

국문 초록

변계량의 가계와 출생지, 변계량가문과 밀양과의 관계, 변계량의 학문연원, 변계량의 사문과 학맥, 변계량 문인그룹의 규모와 행방에 대해 살펴보았다. 첫째 변계량의 가계는, 선대에는 밀양의 향리계층이었다가 부친 변옥란 대에 신흥사대부가 되었고, 그의 중형과 그의 대에는 당대 최고의 경화사대부 중 하나로 성장하였다. 둘째 변계량의 출생지는 밀양이 아닌 개경으로 추정되며, 밀양은 태어나고 자란 고향은 아닌 것으로 보인다. 셋째 변계량의 후손은 1500년 전후에 혼인 등을 통해 한양 주변에서 선향인 밀양 구령동으로 내려오고 그 뒤 다시 밀양 풍각으로 이주하였는데, 1600년대 후반 밀양 풍각이 대구부에 소속되면서 밀양의 기록에서 사라진 것으로 보인다. 넷째 변계량의 학문연원은 “안향→백이정→이제현→이색”으로 이어지는 계보로 파악하는데 별다른 문제가 없음을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째 변계량의 사문[스승]은, 좌주문생 사이만이 아닌 성균관 등을 통해 실제 학문적인 전수가 이루어진 사실이 확인되는 정몽주ㆍ이숭인ㆍ권근 세 사람으로 파악되고, 이들 세 사람을 여말선초 관학의 학문적 계보에 붙여 변계량의 학맥을 “이제현→이색→정몽주ㆍ이숭인ㆍ권근→변계량”의 계보를 잇는 것으로 정리해보았다. 여섯째 변계량 문인그룹의 규모와 행방은, 그의 과거시험 고시관 역임이력과 그가 주관한 과거시험 합격ㆍ급제자 방목 등을 통해 그 대체적인 윤곽을 파악해볼 수 있지만, 그들이 좌주문생의 문생이 아닌 실제 학문적인 전수가 이루어진 스승과 제자 사이의 문인임을 밝혀내는 일은, 개개 인물의 행적과 변계량의 행적을 낱낱이 살펴서 확정해야 할 문제이므로 후일의 과제로 남겨두었다.

영문 초록

The family lineage and place of birth, the relationship between the Byungyeryang family and the Miryang family, the academic origins of the Byungyeryang family, the scholars and scholars of the Byungyeryang family, and the size and whereabouts of the Byungyeryang literary group were examined. First, the family line of Byun Gye-ryang was from the family of Hyang-ri of Miryang, but became a new high-ranking official in the generation of his father, Byun Ok-ran. Second, the birthplace of Byungye-ryang is presumed to be Gaegyeong, not Miryang, and it seems that Miryang is not the hometown where he was born and raised. Third, the descendants of Byun Gye-ryang descended from around Hanyang to Guryong-dong, Seonhyang-in through marriage, etc. around 1500, and then moved to Miryang Punggak again. It is estimated. Fourth, it was found that there was no particular problem in understanding the academic origin of Byun Gye-ryang as a genealogy that runs from “Anhyang→Baek I-jeong→Lee Je-hyeon→Isaek”. Fifth, the teachers of Byun Gye-ryang are identified as three people, Mong-ju Jeong, Soong-in Lee, and Geun Kwon, whose actual academic transmission was confirmed through Sungkyunkwan, etc. Attached to the genealogy, the academic line of Byun Gye-ryang was summarized as linking the genealogy of “Lee Je-hyeon→Isaek→Jeong Mong-ju, Lee Soong-in, Kwon Geun→Byun Gye-ryang”. Sixth, the size and whereabouts of the 6th Byun Gye-ryang Writers Group can be grasped through his history of serving as an examiner for the past examination, passing the past examinations he hosted and grazing of high-grade students, etc. Revealing that the person is a writer between a master and a disciple who has been passed on is a matter that needs to be confirmed by examining the actions of each individual and the actions of Byun Gye-ryang, so it is left as a future task.
