국문 초록

본 논문의 주제는 “교육학의 분과학문적 자율성 확립과 그 학문적 후속과제의 검토”이다. 구체적으로 독자적인 교육이론을 정립하기 위한 학문적 노력을 평가하고 향후 추진과제를 정리하였다. 먼저 교육에 관한 고유한 이론 창안에 부진했던 현 교육학의 풍토를 비판적 시각에서 고찰하였다. 이어서 독자적인 교육이론을 창안하고자 했던 두 학자의 사례를 살펴보았다. 하나는 교육학을 사회과학의 한 분야로 정립하려고 했던 정범모의 과학주의적 교육론으로, 그가 이룩한 성과와 교육학의 정립에 미친 영향에 대해서 살펴보았다. 다른 하나는 교육학의 토대를 재건하고자 한 장상호의 교육본위론이며, 그의 노력이 교육학의 자율성 확립에 기여한 바가 무엇인지를 고찰하였다. 이들의 선구적 노력은 교육학의 정체성 혼란을 극복하고 분과학문의 입지를 다지는 데 크게 기여한 것으로 평가된다. 다만, 분과학문으로서 교육학의 정립은 여전히 미완성이라는 점에서 그 과업의 완수를 향한 학문적인 도전은 후학들에 의해서 지속될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The theme of this paper is “the establishment of educative science and its academic tasks.” Specifically, the intention was to synthesize and organize the efforts and achievements of establishing the independent theoretical foundation of educative research. Before that, I first looked at the tradition of educational studies, which failed to produce results in the creation of unique theory as an academic field of study, from a critical perspective and looked into the causes and consequences. Then, I looked at the examples of the two scholars who invented their own theory of education. One is Bommo Chung’s scientific pedagogy, which tried to establish educational research as a branch of social science, and looked at his achievements and the impact on the establishment of educative science. The other is Sangho Chang’s theory of education, which aims to rebuild the foundation of educational research, and examines what his efforts have contributed to the establishment of academic autonomy in educative science. Their pioneering efforts contributed greatly to overcoming the confusion over the academic identity of educational science and strengthening the position as an academic discipline. However, since the establishment of educational research as an independent science is still incomplete, the academic challenge towards completion of the task needs to be continued by enthusiastic juniors.
