이야기치료가 제시하는 ‘전통적 권력 관계’와 ‘사회적 공조’ 개념의 기독상담적 적용

국문 초록

본 연구는 최근 한국 사회가 경험하는 코로나19 라는 위기 상황을 배경으로 기독상담의 영역인 교회에 이야기 치료를 적용해 보고자 하는 목적으로 시작되었다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 이야기치료의 창시자인 Michael White가 제시한 이야기 치료를 이해하고, 이를 통하여 이야기치료의 중요한 주제인 거푸집 짓기와 그 요소인 ‘전통적 권력 관계와 사회적 공조’라는 개념을 교회와 그 구성 요소인 기독교인들의 코로나19로 인한 외적, 내적 변화에 적용하여 보았다. 이러한 과정은 기독교인들이 코로나19로 인한 어려움 가운데 자신만의 이야기를 형성해 가는데 있어 이야기치료가 기독상담의 영역에 의미 있게 적용될 수 있음을 알게 해 주었다. 특별히 본 연구는 기독상담의 영역에서 ‘전통적 권력 관계와 사회적 공조’가 이야기 치료에서 제시한 ‘버려야 할 것과 취해야 할 것’이라는 양면성에서 벗어나 통합적인 요소로 이해될 수 있다는 점을 제시하여 기독 상담의 영역에서 이야기 치료가 좀 더 효율적으로 사용될 수 있음을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study began with the aim of applying narrative therapy to churches, which are areas of Christian counseling, against the backdrop of the recent crisis of COVID-19 experienced by Korean society. To this end, this study applied the concept of ‘traditional power relationships and social cooperation’, an important theme in Michael White s narrative therapy, to external and internal changes caused by COVID-19 in churches and their components. This process allowed Christians to realize that narrative therapy could be applied meaningfully to the area of Christian counseling in forming their own stories amid the difficulties caused by COVID-19. In particular, this study suggested that in the area of Christian counseling, ‘traditional power relationships and social cooperation’ can be understood as an integrated element, away from the ambivalence of things to be abandoned and taken presented in narrative therapy.
