국문 초록

인권은 인간이라는 종에 속한다는 이유만으로 인간이면 누구나 가지는 권리를 의미한다. 인권개념은 모두 그 연원을 서구에 두고 있다. 그러므로 현재의 인권이 과연 전 세계 인류에게 보편적으로 적용이 가능한가에 대한 의문이 제기된다. 이는 각자가 처해진 상황이 다르기 때문이며, 그렇기 때문에 체감인권은 분명 차이를 드러내게 된다. 우리나라에서 인권이 본격적으로 논의되기 시작한 것은 불과 얼마 전의 일이다. 더 거슬러 올라간 조선시대는 현대의 인권언어로 반인권이라 불리워지는 여러 현상들이 당연시 받아들여졌다. 그러나 조선후기, 한국신종교의 태동과 함께 교조들이 반인권적 요소들을 변혁하고자 나서게 된다. 증산은 ‘인권’이라는 용어를 한 번도 사용하지 않았다. 그럼에도 현대의 인권용어로 설명할 수 있는 다양한 것들이 발견된다. 사회적 약자들을 대하는 증산의 태도와 ‘차별의 철폐’라는 그만의 인권언어에서 ‘인권’을 읽을 수 있는 것이다. 증산의 인권사상은 사회적 약자들로 하여금 ‘인간다운 삶’과 ‘인간으로 살아가게 하는 것’을 통해 인권이 ‘인간존중’의 메시지임과 아울러 보다 구체적으로는 상호존중의 의미가 내재하고 있음을 나타내고자 하였다. 이러한 증산의 의지는 모든 인간이 평등한 존엄을 동등하게 향유해야 한다고 말하고 있는 것이며, 동시에 실천적 행위가 병행 되어야 함을 말해주는 것이다. 증산은 인권을 확립하기 위한 근거로 해원이념을 들고 있다. 해원을 통해 소외되고 착취당하던 민중들로 하여금 본래의 권리를 확보할 수 있게 하고자 하였다. 이러한 해원이념에는 해원주체로써의 민중이 있으며, 생명의 귀중함과 존엄성에 대한 증산의 성찰이 담겨져 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

Human rights means the rights that all human being can and should have if they are human being. There is no better reason to have human rights than the fact that they only belong to human race. It is not so long since the issue of human rights in South Korea(our country, the Republic of Korea) was seriously discussed. Some aspects and activities in Joseon Dynasty were taken for granted without any concern whlie they would be regarded as the violation of human rights in these days. However, this atmosphere had been radically changed with the new religious movements of Korea in the late of Joseon Dynasty. ‘Jeung-san’ never used the word, ‘Human rights’, but ‘Jeung-san’ presented lots of various thoughts that can be considered as ‘Human rights’ in modern usage. His thoughts of human rights can be found out in his attitude toward the weak in social positions as well as can be clearly interpretable in his claim that the discrimination should be abolished. The thoughts of human rights in ‘Jeung-san’ presents that human rights can be the message of the respect for human dignity as well as the mutual respect for each other, motivating the underprivileged to live and act as human being in their lives. ‘Jeung-san’ was willing to show that every human being must have the right for their dignity equally. ‘Jeung-san’ strongly suggested that people should take these ideas seriously in their mind and turn them into the real practice. ‘Jeung-san’ asserted the idea of ‘Hea-won(解冤)’ as the basic foundation in order to establish human rights firmly. ‘Jeung-san’ intended to guarantee people’s natural privilege through ‘Hea-won’ because their right should be innately given to them whoever they are, in particular to who are neglected and exploited from the ruling class. The idea of ‘Hea-won’ not only involves people as the subjective figure of ‘Hea-won’ but also the awakness of ‘Jeung-san’ about the dignity and great value in life.
