국문 초록

발달장애인에 대한 돌봄은 전형적인 돌봄과 달리 평생 지원이 요구 된다. 성인기 중증발달장애인 가족돌봄은 지역사회 서비스 부족으로 인해 돌봄 부담이 늘어나고, 부모의 고령화는 부모 사후 자녀 미래에 대한 불안을 가중시킨다. 이 연구는 커뮤니티 케어 시대 성인기 중증발달장애인 부모의 시설케어와 재가케어의 양가적 선택을 중심으로 한 갈등 경험을 구체적으로 탐구하고자 한다. 이를 위해 근거이론 방법을 활용하여 7명의 부모를 연구참여자로 하여 심층면담을 하고 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과 중심현상은 ‘갈곳없는 자녀의 미래와 막연한 불안’이었으며, 핵심범주는 ‘평생 짊어질 수 없는 자녀 돌봄과 미래 불안 속 시설 선택 갈등’이었다. 이 연구를 통한 사회복지 실천적 제언으로 첫째, 자립과 미래 계획에 대한 정보를 충분히 제공해야 한다. 둘째, 거주시설의 혁신과 공유주택, 지원주택 같은 다양한 지역사회 주거 모델 개발이 필요하다. 셋째, 지역사회기반 돌봄 서비스 구축이 필요하다. 넷째, 돌봄 부담에 대한 가족지원 사업의 확대가 필요함을 제시했다.

영문 초록

Unlike typical care, caring for people with developmental disabilities requires lifelong support. Family care for people with severe developmental disabilities in adulthood increases care burden due to lack of community service, and the aging of their parents aggravates the concerns over their future after their parents’ death. This study seeks to specifically explore the experiences of conflict regarding the binary choice between facility care and home care by parents with the children with severe developmental disabilities in adulthood in the era of community care. To this end, utilizing the grounded theory method, it conducted in-depth interviews with seven parents and analyzed the data. The findings illustrated that the core phenomenon was “the future of their children with nowhere to go and the vague anxiety.” Second, the key category was “child care that the parents cannot carry for life as well as the conflict of choosing facilities for their children with future insecurity.”The study makes practical suggestions for social welfare: First, sufficient information on both independence and future planning should be provided. Second, it is necessary to innovate residential facilities and develop various community housing models such as shared housing and supporting housing. Third, it is needed to establish community-based care services. Fourth, family support projects for the care burden should be expanded.
