성인발달장애자녀를 둔 어머니의 자녀 돌봄 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 성인발달장애자녀를 둔 어머니를 대상으로 돌봄 과정에 대한 경험을 파악하고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 5명으로 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 적용하여 심층면담 및 자료 분석을 진행하였다. 그 결과 40개의 의미단위, 16개의 하위범주, 7개의 범주가 도출되었다. 성인발달장애자녀를 둔 어머니의 돌봄 과정에 대한 경험은 성인발달장애자녀에 대한 어머니의 인식, 장애자녀에 대한 어머니의 힘겨운 돌봄, 성인발달장애자녀의 자립 문제, 어머니의 적극적인 노력, 힘든 돌봄 과정에서의 버팀목, 깨달음과 변화, 성인발달장애자녀의 행복한 삶을 위한 바람으로 7개의 범주가 확인되었다. 본 연구는 20대와 30대 초반의 장애자녀를 둔 어머니들의 생생한 경험을 드러내고, 돌봄 과정에서 겪는 어려움에 대해 정서적, 심리적 도움을 주는 대안의 기초를 마련하기 위한 현상학적 연구를 수행하였다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 아울러 자녀 돌봄으로 소진되어 있는 어머니 자신의 돌봄 시간이 될 수 있도록 긍정의 힘을 되찾는 프로그램이 제공되면 좋을 것이다. 이에 연구 결과를 바탕으로 성인발달장애자녀와 그들의 어머니를 도울 수 있는 방안에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the experiences of caring for mothers of children with adult developmental disabilities. There were 5 participants in the study, and Giorgi s phenomenological research method was applied, and as a result, 40 semantic units, 16 subcategories, and 7 categories were derived. It was confirmed as the mother s perception of the disabled child, difficult care, the child s independence problem, the mother s active effort, the support in the care process, enlightenment and change, and the wish for a happy life of the disabled child. In this study, a study was conducted to lay the foundation for alternative solutions that provide emotional and psychological help to mothers of children with disabilities in their 20s and early 30s in the process of taking care of their children. Based on the results of the study, ways to help children with developmental disabilities and their mothers were discussed.
