국문 초록

이 논문은 장흥 신북구석기유적전시관의 설립제언 사례를 중심으로 지역발전전략으로서의 유적전시관을 설립할 때에 검토되어야 할 요소들을 비판적으로 살펴봄으로써 설립과정에서의 난관을 줄이고 개관 후 운영과정에서 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 사전에 최소화하는 합리적인 해법모색을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법은 유적전시관의 성격, 전시전략과 전시의 특성, 주변 유적의 활용전략, 건립추진방식, 건립비용규모와 재원의 출처, 1년 운영예산규모, 인력규모, 교육프로그램의 다양성, 연간평균 관람객의 수 등을 검토하여 현재의 유적전시관의 문제점과 과제를 살펴보는 것이다. 이 논문에서의 분석대상은 프랑스 남서부지역 라스코동굴 인근의 토트구석기유적전시관과 라스코Ⅳ : 동굴예술국제연구센터, 영국 요크의 바이킹 요빅센터, 연천 전곡선사박물관, 공주 석장리박물관, 대가야왕릉전시관이 포함된 고령 대가야박물관과 야외유적체험장소라고 할 수 있는 대가야역사테마관광지, 서울 종로구 청운동에 소재하는 윤동주문학관이다. 유적과 잘 조화를 이루는 유적전시관의 사례, 동물원을 결합시킨 유적전시관의 사례, 유적전시와 야외전시관의 결합형태 사례, 진품이 거의 없는 복제품 전시를 중심으로 하면서도 체험을 유도하며 방문객에 큰 인상을 주고 규모도 작아 관리비도 적게 들면서 연간 방문객 수도 많다고 생각되는 사례 등을 분석대상으로 선정하였다. 분석결과 유적전시관을 건립할 때, 유적 가치의 공유, 유적의 특성을 고려한 콘텐츠전시개발, 전시관 공간사용의 신축성 극대화전략, 시설운영관리의 용이성과 비용절감방안 모색, 다원적 재원모색, 교육체험프로그램 활성화, 지역축제를 포함한 문화자원의 연계활용, 지역경제에의 기여방안 등에 대한 요소를 고려하며 계획을 수립해야 하는 것이 중요함을 확인하였다. 유적전시관은 문화자원의 학습장소일 뿐만 아니라 지역발전의 토대임이 인식되어야 한다.

영문 초록

This thesis aims to find out reasonable solutions to minimize obstacles occurring making an archaeological site museum as well as to decrease problems occurring after its opening through the critical consideration of the variables to be reviewed upon making an archaeological site museum as a regional development strategy. This thesis particularly deals with the case study of the suggested Palaeolithic site museum at Sinbuk, Jangheung County. The methodology adopted is to review the features of the site museums, their exhibition strategies and characteristics in display, utilizing their neighbouring archaeological sites, approaches to making site museums, the financial size and sources, estimated annual budget size, required number of staffs, diversity in educational programs, the annual average number of visitors, and so on, which will reveal us informations on the present problems of existing archaeological site museums and their future challenges. The existing site museums home and abroad to be discussed will include Thot Centre of Prehistoric Art, Lascoux Ⅳ : the International Centre for Cave Art at Montignac in southwestern France, the Viking Jorvik Centre located in York, England, Jeongok Prehistory Museum in Yeoncheon, Seokjangni Museum in Gongju, Daegaya Museum including Daegaya Royal Mausoleum along with Daegaya History Theme Park in Goryeong, and Yoon Dong-Ju Literature Museum at Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The criteria to select the site museums are the harmonious and effective uses of archaeological sites, an example of a site museum coexisting with a zoo, cooperations between site museums and open air theme park, a small scaled museum with replica exhibitions, considerable visitors’ number, and low operation cost. In conclusion, the strategy to make site museums must be based on the following elements such as sharing site values, content development in relation with related archaeological sites, maximization in space flexibility, competitiveness in facility management, low management cost, seeking diverse financial sources, various educational programs, affiliating cultural resources including unique local festivals, and strengthening local economy. It must be emphasized that site museums are not only learning centre for cultural resources but also base for regional development.
