미디어 예술교육의 체계화를 위한 호주와 미국의 미디어 예술(Media Art) 교육과정 분석 연구

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 미국과 호주의 국가 수준 미디어 예술 교육과정에 제시된 미디어 예술교육의 내용과 성취기준, 구성체계 등을 살펴보고 그 특징을 분석하여 미디어 예술교육에 대한 방향성에 대해 시사점을 얻고자 한다. 미국과 호주는 예술 교과목 내에 미디어 예술이 미술 과목과 독립되어 있으며, 미디어 예술 교육과정에 구체적인 미디어 예술교육의 목표와 내용, 성취기준, 평가지침 등이 제시되어 있다. 이 두 나라 교육과정의 분석 결과와 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이 두 나라의 교육과정에 명시된 미디어 예술은 순수예술 영역의 미디어 아트만을 지칭하는 것이 아닌 텔레비전, 영화, 비디오, 신문, 라디오, 게임, 인터넷 및 모바일 미디어 등 광범위한 시각문화의 영역을 포괄하고 있고, 이러한 다양한 영역의 미디어 예술에 대한 체계적인 교육을 장려하고 좀더 전문적인 지식과 기술을 습득할 수 있게 한다. 둘째, 두 나라의 미디어 예술교육은 미디어에 대한 접근, 분석, 평가, 창조 능력 등 다각적 미디어 리터러시 향상을 목적으로 한다. 셋째, 이러한 목표를 달성하기 위해 교육과정 내에서 구체적인 미디어 예술영역의 지식과 기능, 성취기준을 학년군 별로 자세히 제시하고 있으며, 미디어 예술만의 창의적인 언어를 강조함으로써 미디어의 시각적 언어의 문법, 구문 및 은유 체계를 이해할 수 있게 한다. 넷째, 미디어 예술교육을 융합교육과 통합교과적 측면에서 접근하고 있다. 역사, 지리, 과학, 기술 및 예술을 통합하여 범교과적 주제나 빅아이디어를 중심으로 학제 간 교실 컨텐츠와 함께 예술적 사고와 제작 과정을 연결하여 수업을 구성할 수 있도록 하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the content, achievement standards, and structure of media arts education presented in the national curriculum Standards Documents in the United States and Australia, and analyzes its characteristics to get implications for the direction of media arts education. In the United States and Australia, media arts are independent subjects in arts areas, and specific goals and contents, achievement standards, and Assessments guidelines are presented in the media arts curriculum. As a result, this study shows four findings as following. First, the media art specified in the curriculum of these two countries is not only referring to media art in the field of fine art, but encompasses a wide range of visual culture areas such as television, film, video, newspaper, radio, games, internet and mobile media. In addition, it encourages systematic education in media arts and enables more specialized knowledge and skills to be acquired. Second, media arts education in both countries aims to improve multilateral media literacy, such as access to media, analysis, evaluation, and creative ability. Third, specific knowledge, skills, and achievement standards of media arts within the curriculum are presented in detail by grade group, and by emphasizing the creative language with its own rules, it is possible to understand the grammar, syntax and metaphor system of the visual language of the media. Fourth, By Integrating the curriculum by developing inter-disciplinary curriculum, it is possible to compose a class by linking artistic thinking and production process with interdisciplinary classroom contents centering on cross-curricular topics or big ideas.
