대학생의 무조건적 자기수용과 평가에 대한 두려움 간의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 무조건적 자기수용과 평가에 대한 두려움 간에 어떤 관계가 있는지 정준상관분석을 통해 확인하는 것이었다. 연구는 두 광역시에 소재한 대학교에 재학 중인 학생 450명을 대상으로 수행되었다. 자료분석을 위하여 무조건적 자기수용의 하위변인인 존재로서 자기수용, 판단분별로부터 자기수용, 피드백으로부터 자기수용을 독립변인으로, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움을 종속변인으로 하는 정준상관분석을 실시하였다. 통계적 분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기술통계 결과, 대학생의 무조건적 자기수용 가운데 존재로서 자기수용과 피드백으로부터 자기수용은 중간보다 약간 높고 판단분별은 다소 낮은 편이었으며, 평가에 대한 두려움의 경우, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움이 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움보다 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정준상관분석의 결과, 유의미한 정준함수가 도출되어 무조건적 자기수용과 평가에 대한 두려움 간에 유의미한 부적 상관이 있음이 확인되었다. 셋째, 무조건적 자기수용의 세 가지 변인은 모두 평가에 대한 두려움의 정준변인과 유의미한 상관이 있었으며 그 가운데 피드백으로부터 자기수용이 가장 상관이 높았고, 존재로서 자기수용이 그 다음 순이었다. 평가에 대한 두려움 두 가지도 모두 무조건적 자기수용의 정준변인과 유의미한 부적상관이 있었으며, 상관의 크기는 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움, 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움 순으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 평가에 대한 두려움을 호소하는 대학생을 상담할 때는 무조건적 자기수용을 향상시키는 개입이 효과적일 수 있다

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between unconditional self-acceptance and fear of evaluation of college students. Participants of this study were 450 college students in two metropolitan cities. To analyze the data, a canonical correlation analysis was performed, with self-acceptance of being, self-acceptance out of discrimination, and self-acceptance out of feedback as independent variables, and fear of negative evaluation and fear of positive evaluation as dependent variables. Results of this study are as follows: First, the result of descriptive statistical analysis showed that college students had higher scores in the self-acceptance of being and self-acceptance out of feedback than the self-acceptance out of discrimination. Also, they had higher score in the fear of negative evaluation than the fear of positive evaluation. Second, as a result of canonical correlation analysis, one significant canonical function was produced, so a negative relationship between unconditional self-acceptance and fear of evaluation was found. Third, three variables of unconditional self-acceptance were significantly related with the canonical variable of fear of evaluation, self-acceptance out of feedback having the largest effect and self-acceptance of being the next. Both variables of fear of evaluation were also significantly related with the canonical variable of unconditional self-acceptance, the fear of negative evaluation having larger effect than the fear of positive evaluation. The result of this study suggests that the intervention to improve the level of unconditional self-acceptance would be effective when counseling college students with the fear of evaluation problem.
