국문 초록

현대사회에서의 핵심 키워드는 창의성에 집약되어 있으며 교육 전반에 걸쳐 창의적인재 육성이라는 시대적 요구가 강조되고 있다. 최근 이러한 추세를 반영하며, 디자인적 사고과정에 기반을 둔 디자인교육이 창의적이고 통합적인 사고능력을 기르는 데 매우 효과적이라는 인식이 확산되는 가운데 디자인교육의 필요성과 의미가 부각되기 시작하였다. 특히 디자인은 호기심이 강하고 지적 능력이 왕성하게 발달하는 아동기부터교육시키는 것이 중요하다는 전제 하에, 본 연구에서는 주로 초등학교를 중심으로 한디자인교육의 본질과 내용에 대해 재고하고 이를 바탕으로 현행 디자인교육의 문제점과 과제에 대해 검토함으로써 향후 초등학교 디자인교육의 향방을 모색하는 데 목적을두었다. 종래의 디자인교육은 주로 디자인 전문인을 양성하기 위한 고등교육에 편중되어 왔으며 초·중등학교의 경우 기본교과인 미술교과 내에서 주로 꾸미기와 만들기 등으로 대변되는 시각디자인 관련 표현활동에 국한되어 왔다. 그러나 현대사회가 요구하는 창의적 인재를 양성하기 위해서는 디자인의 본질에 기초한 사고과정 중심의 디자인교육 방안이 절실히 요청되고 있다. 이를 구체화하기 위해서는 학교교육에서의 디자인교육의 체계화 및 제도화 방안에 대한 지속적인 연구 검토가 요망된다. 나아가, 현행교육과정에 제시되고 있는 디자인교육의 목적과 내용에서 확장하여, 새로운 계통적 디자인교육 시스템의 구축이 시급하다. 이를 위해서, 우선은 디자인프로세스를 중시한디자인교육과, 문제발견학습으로서의 디자인의 원리를 적용한 체계적, 구조적인 교육내용 및 다양한 커리큘럼을 구체화할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The key word in the modern society focuses on the creativity. The demand of these times - the nurture of creative talent across the educational world is highlighted. As this trend has been recently incorporated, the design education based on the design thought has been recognized to be very effective to improve creative and integrated thinking abilities. The necessity and meaning of the design education is being magnified. Under the assumption that design should be educated from childhood that has strong intellectual capacity and curiosity, this study was conducted to reconsider the essence and content of design education focusing on elementary schools,examine the problems of current design education based on the result, and find how to implement the elementary school design education in the future. The design education in the past was mostly concentrated in higher education to nurture design specialists. In elementary and secondary schools, the fine art education, one of basic curriculums, has been limited in expression activities regarding visual design such as adornment and making. However, in order to cultivate creative talent corresponding to the modern society, the design education method centered to a thinking process based on the essence of design is urgently required. In order to materialize this issue,the continuous research and review for systematization and institutionalization of design education in schools are required. Further, the new systematic design education system including the purpose and content of design education being proposed in the current education process needs to be established. To achieve this, the design education emphasizing on design process, and the systematic and structural education content applying the principle of design as a problem finding learning, and various curriculums are first required to be concretized.
