칸트에서 자기기만의 문제

국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 도덕 심리학적으로 칸트에서 자기기만이 무엇인지 밝힌그렌버그와 패피쉬의 연구를 검토하는 것이다. 그렌버그와 패피쉬에 따르면 칸트의자기기만은 참이지만 불쾌한 인식 p을 피하기 위해 p를 반박하는 것처럼 보이면서쾌를 주는 인식 q로 주의를 돌리는 것이다. 본 논문은 칸트의 원전에서 자기기만을다룬 부분을 분석하여 자기기만에 빠진 행위자가 어떤 특징을 가지는지 보이고, 이를 토대로 그렌버그의 해석과 패피쉬의 해석 모두에 문제가 있음을 보일 것이다. 그리고 결론에서는 칸트의 이성적 행위자가 어떻게 비도덕적 행위를 할 수 있는지심리학적으로 설명하려는 시도 자체가 칸트의 윤리학적 기획에 비춰볼 때 문제가될 수 있음을 간략히 지적하겠다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the studies of Grenberg and Papish, in which they determine what Kant s self-deception is by interpreting the parts that deal with the phenomenon of self-deception in Kant s writings. According to their interpretation, which has moral-psychological nature, self-deception distracts from, rather than denies, unpleasant truths by diverting one’s attention. Since as human beings we are susceptible to evidence, we cannot refuse to believe what we have reasons to believe. This paper will analyze Kant s text to show what characteristics the agent who falls into self-deception has, and based on this; it will show that there are problems in both the interpretation of Grenberg and the interpretation of the Papish. Moreover, in conclusion, I will briefly mention that any attempt to explain how Kant s rational agent can perform immoral acts in a psychological way can be a problem for Kant s ethics.
