국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 「예기」의 학기편을 교육활동의 성격을 규명하는 교육이론으로 해석하는 데에 있다. 학기편에 나타난 교육활동의 성격은 政敎一體‘의 의미와 敎學相長’의 의미를 통해 드러난다. 政敎一體는 교육활동과 정치활동이 공히 본성을 실현하는 활동이라는 점에서 동일한 성격의 활동임을 의미한다. 학기편에 의하면, 師의 일이 君의 일과 동일한 성격을 나타내는 것은 그들이 학생이나 民과 같이 본성을 실현하고자 노력하고 있기 때문이다. 한편, 敎學相長은 교수와 학습이 교과의 의미를 이해하는 활동이라는 점에서 동일한 종류의 활동임을 의미한다. 敎學相長은 교수활동이 교사 자신의 심성함양을 위한 활동이라는 점을 시사하며, 교과교육 사태에서 교사는 자신이 학생에게 하도록 하는 바로 그 일을 스스로 하지 않으면 안된다는 점을 강조한다. 이와 같이, 학기편을 교육활동의 성격을 규명하는 교육이론으로 파악할 때, 「예기」에서 학기편은 특이한 지위를 차지한다. 즉, 학기편은 교육이 심성함양을 위한 활동이라는 점을 설명하면서, 그와 동시에 바로 그 설명을 통해서 심성함양을 추구한다는 점에서 교육이론의 메타프락시스적 성격을 나타낸다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to interpret the chapter of Hsioki in Liki as an educational theory which makes the nature of educational activities clear. The nature of educational activities in Hsioki reveal themselves through the meanings of Politics and education are union and Teaching and learning help each other . The union of politics and education means that the nature of education and politics are same. Hsioki says that the reason why the nature of teacher s and ruler s doing are same is they try to realize the human nature , same as students and common people. And Teaching and learning help each other means that teaching and learning are the same sort of activities. It implicates that teaching leads teachers to the cultivation of mind in the situation of teaching and lerning the school subjects and it emphasizes that teachers must do the only thing which they make students done. As this, Hsioki is understood as an educational theory which makes the nature of educational activities clear, it takes an especial chapter in Liki. Hsioki represents the theory of education as metapraxis in which the cultivation of mind through educational activities(studying school subjects) is justified in no other way than by the act of cultivating the mind itself.
