왕실 교육의 존재 이유에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 군사(君師) 개념을 통해 조선 왕실 교육의 존재 근거를 논리적으로 해명하려는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 일반적으로 왕실의 교육적 활동은 의례의 수행(교육의례)과 과정의 운영(경연/서연)으로 나타나는데, 조선의 경우 왕실의 의례전장인 『국조오례의』와 15세기 이후 등장한 성학(聖學)의 성립으로 구체화되었다. 이 중 의례는 국왕을 합리적인 방식에 의해 정당화된 존재로 하는 데 중점을 두며 예송논쟁과 『속오례의』의 보완 등으로 변화를 거쳤으며, 심법(心法)을 중심으로 성립한 성학은 시비명변(是非明辨)과 공론정치(公論政治)를 거쳐 탕평론(蕩平論)으로 발전하며 군신공치(君臣共治)의 이상을 실현하여 갔다.

영문 초록

This study aims to clarify the logical basis of Royal Education by considering the dispute on Master King(君師). Generally monarch and the heir to the throne(王世子)’s educational activities give body to perform the royal ritual(王室典章) and to participate in educational activities(經筵/書筵). Therefore, in Choson Dynasty, this disputes derive from National Five Rituals(國朝五禮儀) and Sage Learning(聖學). First, In case of ritual, King and scholar official(士大夫) put emphasis on understanding reasonably the King(君) as a Master(師) by carrying out educational activities. In other words, the role in ritual shows the King as what he means in Dynasty. It often has appeared about great Queen(大妃)’s mourning dress in funeral rites(Ritual controversy(禮訟)) and complement on royal ritual(續五禮儀). This focuses on the distinct or general characteristic on royal ritual. Next, In case of Sage Learning, it comes into the cultivation of mind(心法) and develops the Disputes on discriminating the Gentleman from the common man(是非明辨論), the Expostulation politics(公論政治) and the King’s great criterion(皇極). There have two-fold structure on dispute such as the sameness between educational and political activities. This results from the idea on Condominium of King and Ruling Elites(君臣共治) and King as a judge of the Right.
