영문 초록

Career guidance for post-secondary students, who prepare for job entry and/or further education, has an importance and emergency. In particular, because junior college students, who don`t have opportunities to think their career carefully up to date, have to decide their careers in 2 or 3 years, career guidance in junior colleges must be provided without delay. For this, this study was carried out in order to establish strategies for restructuring and managing career guidance systems in junior colleges which can foster career development competencies of junior college students. To accomplish this purpose, we reviewed literature related to career guidance in junior colleges and discussed the issues with experts. Based upon the results of review of literature and of meeting with expert panels, the study presented the basic directions and model for restructuring career guidance systems. Especially, this study stressed that colleges have to help their students continuously, to induce their students to participate actively, to reflect their students` needs, to ensure professionals who help students` career development, and to provide comprehensive and diverse career services. For the basic directions, this study suggested several ideas for restructuring and managing career guidance systems as follows: (1) collecting, offering, and managing career-related information; (2) career counseling and psychological testing, (3) providing courses for career planning and employment preparation; (4) offering career-related information and counseling services through the internet; (5) enforcing career guidance roles in the department; (7) offering career guidance services differentiated with school year; and (8) making connections with the community. Based on the results of the study, some recommendations for the further strategies were suggested.
