국문 초록

본 연구는 음악 전공 유무에 따른 대학생들의 성격유형과 음악사용전략을 살펴보고 이들 사이에 어떠한 관계가 있는가에 대해 알아보기 위한 것이다. 서울 시내 2개 대학의 음악전 공과 비음악전공 대학생 131명을 대상으로 성격유형과 음악사용 전략에 관한 설문을 실시하 였으며 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구에 참여한 대학생들은 성격유형검사에서 ‘친화성’ 점수가 가장 높았고 다음으로 ‘개방성’ 점수가 높았다. 음악전공자들은 ‘친화성’ 다음으로 ‘신 경증’이 높았고 비음악전공자들은 ‘친화성’ 다음으로 ‘개방성’ 점수가 높았다. 둘째, 본 연구 에 참여한 대학생들은 음악을 ‘즐거움’을 위한 목적으로 사용하였다. 비음악전공자들이 ‘즐거 움’을 목적으로 음악을 사용하는 반면, 음악전공자들은 ‘강한감각’ 추구를 위해 음악을 사용 하고 있었으며 이는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 음악전공 유무에 따른 성격 유형과 음악사용전략의 관계를 보면 음악전공자 중 ‘외향성’의 성격유형이 ‘회복’을 음악전략 으로 사용하는 것과 상관관계가 있었으며 반면 비음악전공자 중에서는 ‘친화성’ 성격유형이 ‘회복’을 음악전략으로 사용하는 것과 상관관계가 높았다. 결과적으로 음악전공 유무는 성격 유형과 음악사용전략에 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 개인의 특성 별 음악사용 전략을 제시하였으며 이를 토대로 개인의 정서를 조절하기 위한 음악감상 프로 그램을 개발하는 데에 있어 기초자료가 될 수 있다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between personality and the strategy to use music among undergraduate students according to music major and non-music major. For this study, 131 students in total were surveyed in the study from two universities in Seoul about their personalities and music use strategies. The analysis of the survey results follows. First, according to the personality test results, ‘agreeableness’ posted the highest score and ‘openness’ marked second among the non-music major students. On the other hand, ‘agreeableness’ posted the highest score and ‘neuroticism’ marked second among the music major students. Second, the test results about music strategies show that all the surveyed students appeared to use music for ‘entertainment’ The test results by major reveal that music majors applied music for ‘strong sensation’ while non-music majors used it for ‘entertainment’ This difference is statistically significant. Third, to look at the relationship between students’ personalities and their music use strategies, students showing ‘extraversion’ used music for ‘revival’ among music major students. On the other hand, students with the personality of ‘agreeableness’ used music for ‘revival’ among non-music major. This study has a great significance in that the test results can help form the foundation for developing music use strategies by type of personality, and consequently designing therapy programs through music application in order to regulate emotions.
