국문 초록

신석기시대 후기 서북한지역에서는 뇌문토기가 유행하며 이와 관련된 많은 연구가 있었다. 본 논문에서는중국 동북지역 자료와 연구 성과를 반영함과 동시에 기존 연구를 검토하여 뇌문토기를 1) 새김 기법, 2) 기하문모티브, 3) 충전 표현 방식이라는 세 가지 기준으로 확장하여 정의하였다. 이 정의에 따라 유물을 선별한 후각 요소의 변용 방식에 따라 다시 6개의 타입으로 분류하고, 각 타입이 가지는 시공간 속성을 파악하였다. 각 타입은 지역과 시간에 따라 일정한 변화 양상을 보여주기에 각각을 다시 1) 당산하층-편보자형 뇌문토기, 2) 북구서산형 뇌문토기, 3) 남보력고토형 뇌문토기, 4) 곽가촌형 뇌문토기, 5) 신암리형 뇌문토기 등 5형식(계통)의 뇌문토기로 구분하였다. 이렇게 분류된 뇌문토기는 다시 세 가지 발전단계 양상을 볼 수 있다. 이 중 당산하층-편보자형 뇌문토기는 가장 전형적인 뇌문토기로 세 단계에 걸쳐 확산 및 변용이 이루어졌으며 신석기시대 말기 단계를 전후로 커얼친지역, 요동반도 남단, 압록강 유역 서안, 서북한에서 지역적으로 분화되는 양상을 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 양상은 뇌문토기가 신석기시대에 광역의 정보 네트워크가 작동되는 과정에서주요 매개체로 활용되고 있음을 보여주며, 동시에 지역 네트워크가 점차 강화되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 문양을수용하는 주체들이 뇌문토기를 다른 요소와 결합, 분화 및 탈락하는 방식으로 지역색을 강화하고 있다고 본다. 따라서 서북한지역 신석기시대 후기 뇌문토기는 중국 동북지역과의 광역 혹은 지역적 정보 네트워크의작동 아래서 이해할 수 있으며, 이후 동북한지역 및 다른 문화 요소들과 결합한다면 당시 사회를 다각적으로볼 수 있다고 생각한다.

영문 초록

Lightning design pottery is a feature of the late Neolithic pottery of the northwest region of the Korean Peninsula. This paper considers the newly discovered data and research achievements of Northeastern China. In Chinese excavation reports, ‘Carved Geometric Triangular pattern’ is often used rather than ‘lightning design’, this difference making it difficult to identify and select subjects for study. Therefore, the ‘lightning design’ pottery category was redefined and the corresponding artifacts were selected based on three criteria: 1) the use of the ‘carved’ technique, 2) the presence of ‘geometric’ motifs, and 3) the use of the ‘filling in’mode of expression. The pottery was then reclassified into five types according to spatial and temporal patterns: ‘Lower Dangsan-Pianpuzi type lightning design pottery,’ ‘Beigou Xishan type lightning design pottery,’ ‘nanbaoligaotu type lightning design pottery,’ ‘Guojiacun type lightning design pottery’ and ‘Sinam-ri type lightning design pottery. Three aspects of the development of lightening design pottery of the northwest region of Korea, the Liaodong region, and the Liaoxi region could be identified. Lower Dangsan-Pianpuzi type lightning design pottery was found the most typical type of lightning design pottery; it spread to other regions and changed stylistically in three stages. In the last stage of the Neolithic Age, it becomes possible to identify regional differentiation. This indicates that the lightning design pottery was used as a major medium in the course of the operation of an information network that covered a relatively wide area during the Neolithic Age.
