탈북청소년의 남한 사회 적응 특성에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 문헌 고찰을 통해 탈북청소년이 남한 사회에 적응하는 과정에서 경험하는 다양한 특성과 어려움들을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 1988년부터 2012년까지 탈북청소년의 남한 사회 적응과 관련되어 발표된 국내 학위 논문, 학술지 논문, 단행본 가운데 66편을 선정하여 문헌연구를 실시하였다. 선행 연구들을 분석한 결과, 탈북청소년은 크게 심리적 적응과 가족 관계, 학교 적응, 사회문화 적응에 있어 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 심리적 적응의 어려움에는 불안, 외상후스트레스, 정체성 혼란, 공격성, 우울 등을 가지고 있으며, 가족 관계에서는 부모-자녀와의 관계, 남한에서의 부모와의 적응 속도 차이로 인한 어려움을 가지고 있었다. 학교에서는 학습, 또래 및 교사관계와의 어려움을, 사회문화적으로는 문화에 대한 가치관의 차이, 감정표현의 차이로 인한 적응의 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 연구 내용을 토대로 탈북청소년의 남한 사회 적응력을 높일 수 있는 지원 방안에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to present a comprehensive review of the literature for understanding the issues regarding a various kinds of difficulties in which adolescent refugees from North Korea have undergone in the process of adapting themselves to South Korean society. For these analyses, 66 academic articles from 1988 through 2012 were reviewed to understand the issues of adaption among North-korean adolescent refugees. Based on the literature review, the major areas of characteristics of adaption were as follows: psychological difficulties, family relationship, school adjustment, and sociocultural adaptation. North-korean adolescent refugees showed anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD), depression, self-identity diffusion, a sense of inferiority compared to South Korean’ counterpart, and aggression. They have had relational problems with their parents, showing the gap in the speed of adaptation process compared to their parents, and troubling with father who pushing up his authorities of patriarch which are normal in North Korean society. There also were difficulties in learning deficiencies and relationship problems with peer and teachers. Additionally, they were having a hard time facing the values of South Korean society. The discussions and implications were provided based on the findings of this study for increasing the adapting ability of adolescent refugees from North Korea to South Korean society.
