국문 초록

이 연구에서는 초등학교 전이기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 양육역량 변화 양상에 따른 잠재집단을 추정하고, 변화 유형화의 영향요인 및 결과요인을 검증하였다. 이를 위해 서울대학교 학부모정책연구센터에서 실시한 ‘학부모교육참여패널조사’의 자녀의 입학 전, 초1, 초2 시점에서 조사한 어머니 총 289명의 설문응답 자료를 바탕으로 이들의 양육역량이 이질적 변화 양상을 보일 것임을 가정하여 성장혼합모형분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육역량 변화 양상에 따른 잠재집단을 분류한 결과 3개의 집단이 선택되었으며, ‘하위유지집단’, ‘급감소집단’ 및 ‘중상위유지집단’으로 명명하였다. 둘째, 어머니의 내적 역량 및 사회적 역량, 자녀교육에 관한 심리적 기대, 정보적 지지가 양육역량 잠재집단에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 어머니의 양육역량 변화 유형화에 따른 자녀의 학교적응의 차이 검증 결과, 하위유지집단과 중상위유지집단 간에, 급감소집단과 중상위유지집단 간에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 이와 같은 결과는 초등학교 전이기를 경험하는 어머니들 안에서의 양육역량 변화의 개인차를 확인한 결과이며, 이 시기를 경험하는 어머니를 위한 양육역량 지원의 필요성 및 방향성을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the latent classes of the parenting efficacy changes among mothers having children in an elementary school transition and to test the effects of antecedents and consequences on them. To achieve these goals, a growth mixture model (GMM) was devised, using a questionnaire involving 289 mothers from the Korean version of the Parenting Participation Panel Study. The results are summarized as follows. First, changes of the mother’s parenting efficacy could be categorized into three latent classes: a low-level stable group, a rapid decreasing group, and a mid-high-level stable group. Second, mothers’ self-schema capacity, social capacity, psychological expectations for their children’s education, and informational support were significant antecedents of the latent classes. Third, regarding the children’s school adjustment according to the mothers’ parenting efficacy changes, group differences were suggested, specifically a low-level stable group versus a mid-high-level stable group, and a rapid decreasing group versus a mid-high-level stable group. These findings identified individual differences of parenting efficacy changes among mothers having children in an elementary school transition, and have further implications regarding the necessity of parenting efficacy support for such individuals.
