영문 초록

Puipose: This survey was to investigate the correlation between the knowledge level of chronic complications of diabetes mellitus and preventive behavior among the type II diabetes, patients and to find out the effect of the education program on diabetes mellitus patients to improve their ability of self monitoring blood glucose. Methods: Subjects of this study were 54 patients, whose blood sugar had not been controlled under 7.5%. In order to find out the differences in Hb-Alc between the before and after the education, the patients were educated on the knowledge of diabetes mellitus. Data were collected from March to May, 2007. Statistical analysis was perfomed by Pearson s correlation and Wilcoxon signed ranks test. Results: Hypothesis 1 There would be positive correlation between the degree of knowledge and practice of preventive behaviors of diabetes mellitus” proved to be statistically significant (p= .003). Hypothesis 2 There would be difference in the management capability of self monitoring blood glucose level between before and after the education of diabetes mellitus. proved to be statistically significant (p= .002). Conclusion: Correlation between the level of knowledge of diabetes and practice proved positive relation and the management capability of self monitoring blood glucose of the patients who were educated on diabetes mellitus was improved. It is necessary to educate patients continually through instructional program in order them to be able to manage their blood glucose.
